kahnle can't be walking 2. also didn't care for 5 changeups in a row to teoscar. Throwing a changeup pitch after pitch is an invitation to disaster. As I have mentioned on the YES board. When a change up is thrown pitch after pitch it's no longer a change up. In other words... A change up from what?

I wasn't a fan of bringing Kahnle back and I think I stated it. As both of you have said, I believe he relies on the change too much. I'm sure there are major league hitters who sit on that pitch as they probably feel they will see it at least once, possibly multiple times during an AB. Warts are starting to show on some of the BP pieces that have been over performing. As some have stated, Soto probably would have made a difference in game 1 but don't believe even he could have helped us overcome the poor pitching in game 2. A changeup is, of course, effective when it looks like a fastball. It’s most effective as a pitch to throw when a hitter is sitting on a fastball. IMO throwing it as much as Kahnle does gives the hitter the opportunity to sit on it, as you said. EXACTLY!

They are all in Heaven now, but there were a lot of Brooklyn Dodger fans where I was born and raised. Not a single one of them rooted for the Dodgers after they left Brooklyn. Being a Dodger fan in NY today could've been passed down from their family.* All of my kids/grandkids are Yankee fans, and the only connection they have to NY is me. *But...you live there, so I'll take your word for it. Let me re-phrase. Not a single Brooklyn Dodger fan I knew rooted for the Dodgers after the Dodgers left Brooklyn. Some of them became Yankees fans, but most of them became Mets fans. They hated the Dodgers so many years later because the Dodgers moved away.

I haven't paid enough attention to Kahnle's change up so for those who have, is he relying more on movement than change of speeds?

Met quite a few Dodger fans from NY who had moved to SoCal at least in part because the Dodgers had. Maybe it was just the impetus to do what they wanted to do anyway.

Isn't this more about the "rest of the team", than without Soto? Soto does add a good AB, but you still have 7 others, underperforming...

I haven't paid enough attention to Kahnle's change up so for those who have, is he relying more on movement than change of speeds? don't know. do think he has good arm speed. but again, it needs to paired w an occasional fastball to give the hitter a different look and keep him honest, even if he's lost a couple mph off the heater. like max said, when you throw 5 in a row, it's no longer a "change-up". at that point hernandez had seen enough of them to recognize it. really irked me because that was the game right there.

hard to explain the black hole rizzo has fallen into. he appeared to have dispelled concerns about his concussion in the 1st month: 29 games .277 BA 5 HR 15 RBI .788 OPS since: 35 games .181 BA 2 HR 10 RBI .484 OPS and no HR since may 10 (a month)
think someone posted a chart of some of the analytics and it wasn't pretty. not driving the ball at all.
