Takes a change low.
Another change tails low and outside, 2-0
Chases a FB above the zone outer half, fouled back and to the left, 2-1
Perfect change starts waist high dives to the low outside corner, Wells swings over, 2-2
Change low tapped to Rojas, DJ holds up for some reason maybe trying to confuse Rojas, but he goes right to short and the relay is close at first
Thought Wells beat it on first look, but the ump called him out.
Either way, run scores and the game is tied at 1.
Yanks will challenge BOTH calls? Did Betts come off early? No. That call will not be upheld.

Just garbage at bats with runners in scoring position. Good pitches, too. I can see lefties having trouble with Stone's split/change before they seen him multiple times. |

Very close call at first, could go either way, but the original call was out. Need clear evidence to overturn.
Call overturned at 1st, so Wells get a "clutch RBI" using his legs.

Volpe takes a slider outside, 1-0
Sinker inside corner waist high, fouled off.
Slider dives low near the corner away, tipped down and foul, 1-2
Slider hangs on the outside conrer, Volpe recognizes late but spoils with a weak hack.
And having slowed his bat down with a couple of sliders, fires a FB down the middle right by him for the K. Excellent sequencing again there, K, inning over.
Yanks again get the first two on, but manage to squeeze a run out with a force (almost double) play.
Tied at 1, going top 3.
20 pitches for Stone in the 2nd, 34 through 4.
Hernandez, Taylor and back to the top with Betts. Nestor will have to locate better to avoid getting hit.
