manager of the game - boone for batting "babe" grisham 5th. getting regular playing time in last 4 games, he's hitting .273 w 2 HR 6 RBI and a 1.218 OPS. if indeed soto is ready to return tomorrow, wouldn't be surprised if he DHs while stanton sits after a terrible series, with grisham, though not batting 5th, once again in CF. Sitting Stanton is one possibility. The other is not putting him anywhere close to batting cleanup. I believe 3 times in this series all he needed to do was make contact/hit a fly ball to score a run and he was 0-3. 2Ks and a pop up in the infield. Shows how important Soto is to this lineup as well as Verdugo. With Stanton and Rizzo showing signs of 2023 all over again the offense was staggering up until last night. Grisham saved Stanton's butt last night with the homer after another failed at bat to score a runner on 3rd.

i'm a believer in this team (tied w phillies for best record and 5 games better than the dodgers) but some warts are coming to the surface. certainly the bottom 4 in the order are looking more like 2023. rizzo after a great start has fallen into an abyss. will give torres the benefit of the doubt that he'll come around. same w DJ after 39 ABs. both catchers have cooled. though i like him and despite last night's HR, ocab has come back to earth.

Can't complain considering Soto's absence...fought back to win last night's game. Yanks likely would've kept their streak of winning series alive with Soto in the lineup.

Crazy gamble but he got him. I don't think he had a choice...would've been a tough pivot to get the out at 1B. Worked out...because of a bad slide. Thankfully Page didn't go headfirst

agree soto could have been the difference maker in the series. his absence made judge's performance all the more amazing.

I'm glad Judge stepped up for him. Maybe it's just me, but the chant of "we want Soto" seemed to add an extra layer of personalized spite that made it nastier than an old-fashioned booing, which all the players from Mantle to Judge have gone through at times. None of us, including Boone, want Grisham out there on a regular basis, but the guy is in a tough spot in the way he is being used. I was really happy for him when he hit that clutch home run. It may well turn out to be his all-time highlight in a Yankee uniform. I was kind of hoping the fans would ask for a curtain call after he hit it. Maybe they were too stunned to react.

Some Yankee fans can be incredibly "nasty"...for lack of a nastier word. I say that as a lifelong dyed-in-the-wool Yankee fan.

I attend at least one, usually two Yankee away series every year. Don't see that kind of vitriol by other fans toward their players very often. In fact, when Trea Turner was struggling last year Phillies fans...not known to be particularly "gracious"...decided to cheer rather than boo him. And he responded...positively.

Just shows what Judge is all about as a person. It also reminds when Letroy Hawkins was going through with Yankee fans just because he had the nerve to wear the then available #31. No on from the Yankees stuck up for Hawkins the way Judge did for Grisham.

No on from the Yankees stuck up for Hawkins the way Judge did for Grisham. I take it that fans was frustrated after losing 2 games and not wanting Yankees to get swept. No doubt Judge provides great leadership, and he should be commented. After a late night game, I'm surprised there was no travel/off day scheduled heading to KC. Aside from the 2nd game, Yankees was in it for the win in game 1. All in all it was a competitive series.
