Yanks can gain a game on Toronto and Tampa, but not the Sox and O's.

Cutter outside middle, gets under it to Judge just left of dead center, Judge a step or two to his right, catches, 2 down.

Slow curve misses low/away by plenty, 1-0
Cutter thigh high near the corner away, Hampson goes with it, loops a humpback liner over 1st for a hit, Soto playing near the line, cuts it off and it's just a 2 out single.

Cutter starts for the corner away, waist high, bends outside by 3-4 inches, tapped off the end of the bat back To Weaver, runs toward first a few steps, then flips underhand to Rizzo for the 3rd out.
Top 9, 11-5 Yanks.
Stanton, Verdugo and Torres for the Yanks in the 9th.

Ex-Red Sox John Schreiber comes in to pitch the 9th for KC. I remember he was untouchable for a couple of months, then the league touched him.

all of a sudden our bullpen makes me nervous Beyond Holmes and Weaver, we don't have anybody that I'm particularly confident in. Tonkin has been a terrific find so far, but he's a career AAAA guy. Hopefully he's one of those guys that catches lightning in a bottle for a year. Hamilton looks awful. Ferguson has stunk. Gonzalez and Marinaccio are unproven. Kahnle looks terrible. Maybe a couple of these guys are just in a funk and can pull out of it, but this is clearly an area that needs help. I'd almost say it's the area most needing addressed. You don't go far in October without a solid bullpen. |

Swings under a FB just high on the inner 3rd, 0-2. Weird half hack there.
FB sails outside 1-2
Change misses low in the middle, 2-2
FB outside middle, smacked hard to the right of 2nd, Loftin dives/slides to his right, backhands, gets up and throws out Verdugo, 2 down. Excellent play there.

The erratic Ferguson will come in to try to close out the game and series win.
He'll face 2-3-4: Witt, Pasquantino and Perez.
