Hat tip to Volpe; with 2 singles, one starting the 6 run rally in the 1st that broke it open early, and another great diving play, and bounced throw to Rizzo to take a hit away. 3rd star of the game: Soto, for another hit, 2 BB and 3 runs scored and a nice play on the flare in the gap for the sac fly on Pasquantino, cooling off the Royals 1st rally in the 6th. 2nd star: Trevino, for the 3-run HR that capped the 6-run rally, and basically put it out of reach with 8 1/2 innings to go. 1st star: Poteet, for another credible start for a win, 2 runs in 5 1/3 innings, holding the Royals in check while the offense built up the 8-run lead, and doing it without command of his fastball.

The series finale is tomorrow at 2:10, back on YES, thankfully. I might be late for the start as I have a doctor's appointment earlier in the afternoon, don't know how long it will take.
Nestor Cortes, looking to shake his troubles when pitching on the road, goes for the Yanks. He's 3-2, 1.77 ERA at home, 0-3, 6.17 ERA on the road, and in 14 starts overall, he's 3-5 with a 3.68 ERA. The Royals will send Alec Marsh out, hoping to avoid the 4-game sweep. He's having a bit of an up-and-down season as well: 5-3 with a 4.05 ERA.
Game preview done, I have a lot of notifications to look at. Because of the lagging webcast, couldn't check much during the game.

With this win, the Yankees now have the most runs scored (356) AND the fewest runs allowed (228) in MLB.
Also playing .700 ball now with the best record in the MLB.

Not nearly as many notifications as I thought (good ego check there). I'll do better tomorrow, gang. Time for me to get going. See you tomorrow, maybe on time after my doctor's appointment, but maybe not as I might get lunch somewhere on the way home. If not, I'll join you in proress and will try to leave some sort of preview for you before I go. It might not be as lengthy as the usual broken monolougue, but I'll try to put something up. Kaybli might have to move it into the game thread for me. So, see you tomorrow at some point, and good night to all of you. Bye!

That's a "winning hand" in any season, kaybli. Thanks for the info.

I usually reply to you more but I went for a walk the first few innings of the game and was doing work when watching.
Hope you have a good and uneventful doctor's appointment!
Good night!

Sometimes I feel sorry for the guy (Kwik) and try to leave him alone so he can get everything else done…

I had to miss this one and it looks like I missed another offensive outburst, except this time the Yanks are getting contributions from others in the lineup than the usual starts. That's what we want to see!

Otherwise there is no possible way he could do what he does. Qwik has "qwikly" turned into the Game Thread MVP for what he does. Many a times if I miss part or the full game his play by play helps me get back in the game. And even if I'm watching its helpful to get a full picture. Here's to you, qwik!
