Well. That was disappointing, unfulfilling, and otherwise not good.
Meatloaf: 3 out of 4 ain’t bad either. Don’t be greedy…kill the Red Sox…

OK, just took another look at the infield hit, Holmes made a move to get the soft bouncer from Waters, realized he couldn't and headed right for the bag, but the original move froze Rizzo back, and delayed the pickup and toss to Holmes. For want of a nail... Rizzo should not have depended on Holmes. Rizzo should have gone for the ball, and it Holmes get it, so be it.. If both go for the ball, no one's covering 1st and the out depends on Holmes outrunning a very fast runner in Waters to the bag.

Of course for me, the loss occurred when Holmes had Kyle Isbel down 0-2, then threw three strait balls to get to 3-2.

Despise Holmes. He's Chapman without the rivers of sweat. Had a chance to steal a game with only five hits but he blew it. We might be looking for more than just "set up men" in the coming months.

Ugh, I went into a meeting with the Yanks leading 3-2 going into the bottom of the 9th. I just figured they won another one.
3 out 4 against a team that plays well in their building is still an impressive achievement.
As for Holmes, Mo used to blow saves too. It happens, especially when you don't strike guys out and have to rely on your defense all the time.

OK, Yanks have to shake off the blues quickly, for they go right to Fenway without a day off to play their first series of the year vs. the Sox, 71 games into the season. Unfortunately, the usual FOX SmoltzBloviationCast on Saturday, with many comparisons to flies to right that would be HRs at the Stadium that are outs in Fenways, and doubles off the Monster in left center that are outs at the Stadium, followed by the ESPNSundayNightBaseballMakeMeSickDespiteConeycast on ESPN.
Game 1 tomorrow evening at 6:30 on YES, game moved up to keep cross-traffic with Game 5 of the NBA Finals nearby down some. The game is not in Boston, but they'll be holding a crowdcast at the TD Garden for the home fans. Yanks send out rookie Luis Gil, who got a no-decision in his last start against the Dodgers, breaking his white-hot run. He's 8-1 with a 2.04 ERA, 3rd in the AL. Rookie Cooper Criswell goes for the Sox; he's He's 3-3 with a 4.12 ERA, and just 48 inning in 10 starts, he hasn't gone deeper than 5 1/3 in any of his 10 starts.
Game 2 is the (Ugh!) Fox Shame of the Week at 7:15 pm (to be delayed to 7:22 or so to get in more bla-bla-bla from Jeter and commercials, A-Rod and more commercials, and Ortiz and still more commercials). Looking for his 8th straight win, Carlos Rodon starts for the Yankees; he's 9-2 with a 2.92 ERA, 9th in the AL. Brayan Bello goes for Boston. He's 6-7 with a 4.74 ERA, and has struggled recently: 2-2 with a 6.75 ERA in his last 5 starts, 26 hits and 12 BB in 26 2/3 innings.
Game 3 is the (UGH!) ESPN Sunday Night AwfulCast at 7:10 pm. Marcus Stroman, who thew 5 2/3 shutout innings against the Royals on Tueday, goes for the Yanks. He's 6-2 with a 2.82 ERA, 8th in the AL. Kutter Crawford throws for the Sox; He's 2-6 with a 3.47 ERA, but he's also gotten hit lately, losing his last 4 start with an ERA of 6.85 in 22 1/3 innings.
OK, series preview done, I'll check notifications.

What should Holmes have done on the grounder to Rizzo. He was at the bag in time. Should Holmes have tried to field it himself? That is Holmes' ball to play. He damn near stepped on it. If Rizzo comes in hard on that he either runs into Holmes, or ends up getting to the ball at an impossible angle to throw the runner out. OK. Close either way, but maybe he should have.

I wonder how many saves Holmes has coming in with a one run lead? 3 out of four is great, but when you can taste a sweep!!!!!!

OK, notifications looked at and responded to, I'm going to get going today. See you tomorrow evening for the 1st game at Fenway this season. Not as much juice because they have a big lead on the Sox, but I'm sure Cora will cause havoc anyway. Good afternoon to all of you. Bye for now.

If you mean this season, this is the 7th time he's come into the game with a 1 run lead. He saved the first five of them, all in April. He's blown the last two, one in late May against the Angels in Anaheim, and this one. The teams he got the saves against were the Astros in the 1st and 3rd games of the season, the Marlins, the Guardians and the A's.
