That kind of play would have landed Aaron Hicks on the 60 day DL. For how many seasons?

Speaking of Aaron Hicks, I hadn't realized that he is no longer playing baseball after being DFA'd by the Angels.
Despite not playing, Hicks is sitting on his couch receiving:
$10M from the Yankees this year and next. $750K from the Angels this year. A $1M buyout at the end of the 2025 season from the Yankees.

I walked the dog and missed an entire inning of this no hitter by Marsh.

Grisham takes a curve above middle for a strike Change misses inside 1-1 Change inside middle, Grisham fouls it, 1-2 Slider got a piece of the zone at the bottom but Fermin had to lunge to catch it, and blew the call, 2-2, should've been a ꓘ. FB waist high, outer 3rd, fouled Sinker below middle, hit well to fairly deep left, but an easy play for Blanco, 2 down.

Curve drops into the zone down and in, taken, 0-1 Swings over a slider at the knees, outer half, 0-2 That one wasn't a zone expand, Jeff, it was a strike anyway. FB waist high outside corner, fouled off Backs a lively sinker to the outside corner at 95, Volpe doesn't recognize until too late, misses with a weak hack, K, inning over.
Bottom 6, 2-0 Royals Another easy 1-2-3 for Marsh, just 12 pitches and 79 through 6.
Witt, Pasquantino and Perez for the Royals in the 6th.

FB in the zone up and away, fouled straight back, 0-1 Flies open and misses well high with a cutter, 1-1 on Witt Slider misses the back door above the waist, 2-1 That cutter maybe got the high outside corner, called strike 2, 5% on Gameday Cutter above the zone, fouled back Cortes takes an extra beat to get set, gets a FB about 3 inches outside at the top, and he just takes that fast swing and slaps it to right for a leadoff single. Should be running here.

FB 6 inches high, Wells looks at 1st, holds the ball, 1-0 Swings under a FB at the top near middle at 92, big HR hack, 1-1 Throw over, but Witt reads it immediately, gets back easily FB on the high outside corner, fouls it back and to the left. 1-2 Runner goes, FB at the top, inner half, and Pasquantino pops it out of play behind home. Slider hits the low outside corner, and he drops the bat on it, but gets under it to center, Grisham comes in a few steps, catches, 1 down.

Perez... Takes a waist high cutter well outside, 1-0 FB in a bad spot outside middle, but Perez misses, fouling it hard off Wells' mask, deflects off the umps left arm, 1-1 Throw over, again Witt is back easily. Witt goes, and Cortes holds it and uses the Pettitte move to pick him; the throw to 2nd is in time, Volpe gets the tag down, but the Royals are arguing his foot was in front of Witt's hand before he had the ball. Contrero arguing hard for obstruction, and gets tossed. Looks like the play will stand. Not sure if he blocked Witt before he had the ball, but the call stands.

Change away, hit hard up the middle, nearly hits Cortes, goes to Torres on the right side of 2nd, throws out Perez, inning over.
Top 7, 2-0 Royals. 13 pitches for Nestor in the 6th, and 77 through 6. He has his first quality start on the road, unless he give up 2 more runs before being taken out. Now all eyes turn to Marsh and his no-hit bid. This inning is the eye of the needle: Soto, Judge and Verdugo for the Yanks in the 7th.

Braves get two big tack on runs in the 9th on an Albies double and a wild pitch, lead 6-3, still batting.
