For a Yankees-Sox game? Naughty-naughty. Yea unfortunately my sleep schedule is always messed up. I caught up on the game through your play by play though so thanks! As the great Andrew Martin used to say: One is gald to be of service.

I did remember it right; Lacy it was. Well, it was first title as a Yankee fan. I was not quite 3 years old the last time they won on McCovey's lineout to Richardson with the bases loaded and two outs in the 9th in a 1-0 game in 1962. Ralph Terry was THATCLOSE to giving up two game 7 title-blowing hits, that one and the Mazeroski HR in 1960. That would be way too much for any pitcher to deserve to suffer. The 77 team was was sort of the first title team I remembered but I was 8. I remember the disappointment of 81 more than the joys of 77 or 78. That one definitely sucked, but I was angrier at 2003, because unlike the Red Sox, Angels, D'backs teams that beat them before and after, that Marlins team had no business shutting down the Yanks like that in spite of Cabrera and Beckett. Still furious at Wells for telling Torre and Stottlemyre he was reading to go in game 5, and begging out after one inning forcing them to rely on Contreras who was a basket case for them before he settled in with the White Sox to become a title winning staff ace. I knew Beckett would shut them down cold in Game 6, so screwing with the rotation like that tossed away a series they should've won. It also set the stage for the Pavano fiasco, because he pitched well against them in the Series, and that was irresistable to George.

first team to 50 wins. most wins in the mlb. after last night's terrible loss, the train gets back on the tracks. back to a 3.5 game lead over the O's and we're 7 games better than the dodgers.
seemed like a struggle for gil with the highest pitch count of his career lasting only 5 innings. ole reliable tonkin closed it out.
of course it was the verdugo show. AC as verdugo as calls him, probably didn't enjoy the show. the soto/judge show was relatively quiet. both had a hit (soto bounced on off the monster) and a walk and scored twice. rizzo now 4 for 9 w 3 rbi over last 3 games. maybe he's coming out of his black hole. trevino another one riding a short hot streak 5-11 w 2 HR 6 RBI last 3 games. like when volpe does his thing on the basepaths.
tomorrow nite i actually get to watch the game. i'll take fox boys over suzyn's new very vanilla partner any day.

Yep, just came back to report that, but you beat me to it. 2 run double by Bohm provided the winning margin. Yanks lead over the O's is back to 3 1/2 games. And now I do what I forgot to do an hour ago: That's all for me for tonight (well, now, this morning). See you again for the FoxExasperatingSmoltzCast Game 2 of the series. Good night to all. Bye!

Never pick up a cough. Leave it where you find it and move on. Everyone thinks they want one until they have one. Or, maybe that’s a pool? Never mind. No pretenses here of wanting a pool, a boat, or an RV… Thought about a pool when we moved here. Cost/benefit didn't work. Decided on a "hot tub"...turn the heat off during the summer. Great for cooling off...no intention to swim laps. As the saying goes...boats are a hole in the water in which to throw your money. Sold mine several years ago...just not getting the use out of it to justify the expense. As I've said, we like to do road trips. Put a deposit on a small RV several years ago, decided against it after further consideration. Again...couldn't justify the expense to benefit.

It had a motor that generated a current you could swim against. Was really expensives to purchase and install and the maintenace was also costly. I had to replace the motor after about 6 years and the new one blew a gasket after 6 months and flooded the pool with oil. I pulled it out and had it hauled away for scrap. I did own a 14 foot Boston Whaler for 10 years or so. Was small enough to tow behind my truck and was a fun boat. There are times I still wish I had it. I sold my Triumph Bonneville about 20 years ago. There are times I wish I still had it but I usually come to my senses.

Thought about an endless pool...decided against it because of the cost and potential problems. The older I get the more I am into low maintenance. Had a very expensive hot tub at my Colorado home...bought a relatively low cost one for my place here. When that one died I bought a bare bones one...250 gallon roto-mold. Serves it's purpose...a place to soak and cool off. I know what you mean about a boat...had an 18' Bayliner which was a lot of fun. Bought it when I had my place in The Adirondacks...several really nice lakes within a few miles. There are actually several nice, large lakes within the Metro Phoenix area, but not able to store the boat at my house, so had to pay to store it off-site. Factor in insurance, maintenance, etc. and it just didn't make sense financially. Can rent a boat for the day if the urge to spend a day on the lake strikes. Since retiring I try to keep "unnecessary" expenses down...save to do what we really enjoy; road trips to interesting places usually combined with visits to ballparks when the Yanks visit. Your Triumph...a 650? I "shared" one with a good friend of mine many years ago.

I get that it's the Sox and every Sox fan despises every Yankee, especially anyone playing well for them, but the Sox TRADED Verdugo to the Yanks, it's not like he left them via free agency. Of course it's ridiculous. Padres fans booed Soto... I'm of the opinion that even if a player left a team via free agency it's not a big deal. A player just like most people is going to make a personal decision that he thinks is best for him and his family. To each their own, but I never understood Cano being booed by fans of a team that has signed many free agents away from other teams.

Ravens vs. crows… Ravens are larger Crows make the caw! Sound. Ravens sound like a throaty grunt Crows with a split tail, ravens have a solid tail Crows flap wings constantly flying, ravens glide with occasional flaps. I like ravens more… Nevermore... lol! @ EAP and The Munster's references.

Gets out of it. Gil didn't have his best stuff tonight, but holds them to one run in five. Now we need four innings out of the bullpen. Not wild about that. The pen has been hit or miss for sure in June. Note to Cashman, trade Stanton for Hader.

Nice win for the Yankees. Holmes gets a day off. Good to see that Volpe didn't get hurt. His slide into 3B is exhibit A on why I don't like when players slide head first.
