Opens way up on a slider way outside, but checks, 2-0
Sinker misses the low outside corner by 2-3 inches, 3-0
Not sure Volpe sees the ball well from Bello...
Sinker backs up to the inner 3rd above the waist, taken. 3-1
Sinker inside saws his bat in half, and the soft liner bounces one to Valdez near 2nd, he throws out Volpe, inning over.
Good bounceback inning for Bello, a 12 pitch 1-2-3 and 37 through 2.

Change inside middle, lofted to left center, Judge has time but pulls up because he sees Soto coming hard, drops in for a hit.
There's the problem with switching positions to avoid Soto in the big right field. He's not used to the angles on balls from there.

FB in the zone up and in, taken for a strike
Change waist high, just off the corner away, grounded softly to the normal SS position, but Volpe has to come in and over from the shifted positon near the bag, fieilds and throws on the move, a strike that gets Valdez at 1st. Inning over.
Top 3, 2-0 Yanks
11 pitches for Gil in the 2nd, 25 through 2.
Soto, Judge and Verdugo for the Yanks in the 3rd.

Checks his swing on the slider down the middle, but taps it up the 1st base line a bit, rolls foul, 1-1
Sinker just above the zone, inside middle, fouled off. Soto gives Bello a look as if to say, "I shoulda killed that one"
Change bounces low on the outer half, 2-2
Change dives to the low outside corner, gets a check swing from Soto, he taps it right to Devers well off 3rd, throws him out, 1 down.

great report on cole's outing in rochester tonight. 5 innings and 2 pitches, 1 hit 10 Ks and a hard 70 pitch cap. fastball at 97. very encouraging.
