I am more disappointed in Torres than DJ. You had to suspect Father Time would be catching up to DJ but you'd anticipate a better year from Gleyber. I was just thinking of first basemen, if Rizzo is out. If they just play DJ at first and Oswaldo at third, this offense will suffer. With the way that Rizzo and DJ have been hitting, it may just be a wash. At the very least, Waldo is a switch hitter with some speed and can get a bunt down every now and then. |

Slider bounced, 2-0
Sinker low, 3-0
Fb clips the corner inside, thigh high, 3-1
FB misses low, just inside middle, called strike 2 anyway. Hamilton got a break on that call. 3-2. 0% on Gameday.
Takes his timeout
2nd throw over and now Rafaela is free to run.

Rafaela goes and Durran fouls off a FB down and in.
Slider down the middle, thigh high, pulled toward first, DJ dives to his right, can't stop it, Rafaela on the move gets to 3rd easily, and Verdugo has to rush to hold Duran at 1st.

Infield in on Hamilton to "protect" the 4 run deficit.
Duran goes on the 1st pitch, Trevino throws, but Volpe comes off the bag to cut it off and hold Rafaela at 3rd. 2nd and 3rd, nobody outsid, 0-2 on Hamilton.

All of a sudden the Yankee pitching can’t get anyone out. Red Sox offense is relentless with their singles and stolen bases. Meanwhiike we are asleep at the wheel.

Slider in jams Hamilton, he bloops a single over the drawn in infield, drops for a hit, Duran sees it fall in, Soto comes from left, scoops it up makes a strong throw home, and nails Duran. Sox challenging that Trevino blocked the plate without the ball, but I don't think the challenge will succeed. 8-3 Sox, man on 1st, 1 down. Hamilton held 1st on the play at the plate.

OK, so the Sox young fast guys are running wild right now both hitting and stealing. Nobody has a book on their adjustments yet. Let's see if they can keep this up long term. Both Valdez and Rafaela were regarded as excellent prospects, and maybe they're breaking through after struggling for 60 games.
