Sure wish I would have been drinking with Pipps tonight. What an ugly, disheartening ball game. This does not look remotely like the team with the best record in baseball, leading the division, or World Series bound.

This does not look remotely like the team with the best record in baseball, leading the division, or World Series bound. It looks like a team that had some very serious flaws exposed that they've done a nice job of masking the first 70 games. The bullpen is a likely fatal flaw right now. It's bad. Really bad. We don't have one dominant guy and several who I simply would not trust with a lead.

Yanks have the day off tomorrow to go home and try to regroup before the next series: a very tough, talented and confident Orioles team comes to the Stadium with what looks like a good chance to take the division lead away from the Yanks by late Thursday afternoon. The Yanks have lost 3 of 4, and looked bad doing so, especially the bullpen, which has been bad the last 4 days. The O's, meanwhile, took 2 of 3 from a very tough Phillies team, blasting their ace, Zack Wheeler for 8 runs in 4 2/3 innings to win that series. Baltimore will come in having won 18 of their last 24.
Unless Boone changes his mind, taking advantage of the off-day to insert Cole into the rotation Wednesday or Thursday, the pitching matchups look like this:
Tuesday evening at 7:07 pm on YES: Inriguing comeback veteran Albert Suarez, having a great season so far, goes for the O's. He's thrown 4 excellent if brief starts in a row filling in for some injured starters. On the season, he's 3-0 with a 1.61 ERA and a 1.052 WHIP in 7 starts and 7 relief appearances. The Yanks must send Cody Poteet out, because Cole can't go on 3 days' rest no matter what. Poteet has done well in his his four starts, 3 of them brief. He's 3-0 with a 2.14 ERA and a 1.048 WHIP on the season.
Wednesday evening at 7:07 on the (yuck) Prime Delayed Video Shame of the Week...elite lefty pitching prospect Cade Povich makes his 3rd start for the O's, another injury replacement. He got hammered by the Jays in his first game, but bounced back with 6 shutout innings of 5 hit, no walk no run ball against a good Braves lineup, but took a no-decision as the O's didn't score while he was in. Povich is 0-1 with a 4.76 ERA. Yanks will oppose with Nestor Cortes. Cortes has been up and down lately, but his last start was tough 7 inning battle against the Royals, his first really good road game all year, and one in which he should've gotten the W when the Yanks rallied in the 8th for 3 runs, but Holmes peaced it away against Isbel and Garcia in the 9th inning in KC. Cortes is 3-5 on the season with a 3.58 ERA and a 1.118 WHIP.
The series finale is Thursday at 4:05 back on YES: Cole Irvin, having a very good year so far at 6-3 with a 3.03 ERA, throws for the Orioles. Luis Gil, who had to battle hard his last two starts after 7 great starts in a row, goes for the Yanks. He's 9-1 so far on the season, 2nd in the AL in wins, and still leads the AL in ERA at 2.02.
OK, series preview done, I go to check the notifications I haven't already checked along the way, during the game.

Real championship contenders don't let themselves get pantsed by this style of play.

Glad we decided to take a drive and missed this one, but we are currently at 11,200 ft. And we’re stuck in a snow bank/ on a stump. We were able to get the State police to respond and expect to see the officer in about 3 hours. We’re hoping his winch can pull us out…
It’s a forest service road, so not exactly easy access. We were lucky to find anyone to help at all! Getting very dark in these woods now… 🦁 🐅 and 🐻… haha…

He’s getting pretty close, and maybe slightly ahead of schedule. He can’t go real fast on this road…it’s a rough one…

We forded five streams on the way in… this was the first serious snow we’ve seen… but if we get off this damned stump I think the road starts downward soon, should get out of the snow pretty quick. This snow is only here because it doesn’t get sunlight, so it’s a slow melt.
At least we’ve monitored Ruthie’s breathing and it’s good. We have oxygen on board in case…

Got off the mountain and home at 3:40 AM. Tore the front quarter panel off the car and other damage in an unrelated incident. The road was blocked by fallen trees and turning around wasn’t an option. I forced the car through…

So lucky you had cell phone reception. Time to get a winch for your truck!

We had her out of the car and standing clear during winching. See suspected a bear…

It turned out that our rescuer was a DNR cop. After he got us out he got stuck. We hung around over and hour trying to help get him out, but his back tires slipped off the road and he was hopelessly in the snow bank.
We offered to drive him off the mountain, but he insisted we go. He had 4 phone calls to make and plenty of people that could come to his aid.
He’s restricted by policy to not help out in vehicle rescues, but you could tell he’d done it before. Like he said…”You’re not getting a tow truck up here, so…”
We tried to go to bed, but there’s still too much adrenaline in our systems right now. The car looks like hell…
