Hamilton... Slider down and in, pulled foul, 0-1 Splitter dives low over the middle, 1-1 Bad cutter in the drops the bat happy zone down and in, hammered toward the corner in right, but Verdugo gets the jump and spears it on the backhand on the run. Excellent catch, 1 down.

Judge's 26th HR: 114.2 mph, 380 feet, 45(!!)º launch angle, a HR in 23 of 30 MLB parks. I feel like Judge could do those high launch angle hits in Fenway in his sleep. If he played 81 games in Fenway a year, he'd probably challenge Bonds' record.

Ugh. They're hitting Stroman. Let's not do this again, dammit. Crawford has better stuff than Stroman. Stroman (usually) has more moxie. Let's see how it goes.

Refsnyder takes a FB down the middle as Duran goes for 2nd. Trevino can't get a grip, and holds the ball, Stolen base. Slider low/away 1-1 Slider well outside, 2-1 Slurve just low/away, chased, 2-2 Slider well outside, chases again, K's, 2 down.

As much as I don't like Boston, I'm happy Refsnyder has found a home here. He was a consummate professional in our organization, even when the Yankees made moves that made it clear that he wasn't in their future plans. Abraham for the Boston Globe has said that Refsnyder has taken the role of clubhouse leader on this rebuilding team and I wouldn't doubt he's bringing a lot of the "Yankee way" to their clubhouse.

Devers up, man on 2nd, two down Cutter misses inside by 3 inches called a strike anyway, bad call, but that's one back for the Yanks. Misses a waist high cutter on the corner inside, 0-2 Takes a bounced slider, 1-2 Stroman steps off wheels and looks but doesn't throw to 2nd. Splitter dives way outside and a bit low, taken 2-2 Not getting to chase that one, Marcus. FB above the waist and in ties him up a bit, misses late and under, pops it to left, easy play for Soto, inning over.
Stroman gets out of the mini-jam. 16 pitches in the 1st for him. Top 2, 1-0 Yanks Stanton, Rizzo and Torres for the Yanks in the 2nd. Stanton should have trouble with Crawford's cutter and sweeper, but you never know.

Stanton is relegated to a mistake hitter against Crawford. If Kutter puts a pitch where Stanton swings, he'll hit it a long way.

He still has it.

Stanton... Sweeper well low near the corner away, 1-0 Slider starts inner half dives to the knees on the outer half, taken, 1-1 Stanton very early, pulls off the sweeper on the corner away, 1-2 Gonna see more of that tonight. FB 4-5 inches outside above the waist, taken 2-2 Able to take on the slider well low, and a bit outside, 3-2 And there's the price of his slower trigger with age. He has to guess, guesses slider going out of the zone and takes a FB at the kneed, outside middle for the ꓘ, 1 down.

The only surprise about that last pitch to Stanton is that he didn't swing at it.

It'll be interesting to see Refsnyder's public role for the Sox once WEEI stops talking about the Celtics next week and the spotlight heads to Fenway. The Sox haven't sold out this toilet since opening day, so I'm sure they're going to get a bunch of abuse on the airwaves.
