Based on the NINE bases stolen by Boston during Sunday's game, I get the feeling all the teams are going to be stealing as much as they can. I have been worried about this for the entire season. Wells and Trevino seem to be slow to getting the ball out and don't have the strongest of arms. Trevino does a good job a quick throws to first, but that is about all. This is going to put a lot of pressure on pitchers which doesn't help with also having to deal with the pitch clock. Just a thought.

Going into that game Wells was at league average 22% caught stealing, Trevino was at 26%. Trevino was much higher a week or two ago… I missed the game. This is the first I’ve known of the 9 steals. Holy crap…

Trevino had struggled with this most of the season, the difference last night was Stroman or the bullpen couldn't get any of their fast runners out. Way too many base runners.

There seems to be more base stealers in the Majors than we've seen in a while. That may be not true, but it sure seems like it.

There seems to be more base stealers in the Majors than we've seen in a while. That may be not true, but it sure seems like it. It may be a function of fewer people reaching base and therefore running more to take advantage when they do get on. Right now the cumulative MLB BA is .241. That is the lowest it's been since the fabled Year Of The Pitcher in 1968. In fact if that number holds, it would be the third-lowest ever going back to 1871. The only other lower cumulative BA was in 1888, at .239. As recently as 2007, the MLB BA was .268, so things are seriously out of whack. In 2022 the MLB BA was .243, so it's been trending. But it's surprising that even in the Deadball Era batting averages were higher than today, although of course with infinitely fewer HRs. I don't know if that correlates with more SB -- I need to be toddling along and can't check for now -- but it would make sense.

Not sure whether it's attempts or more stolen bases, but either way the pitch clock, increase in the size of the bag and limited pickoff attempts would definitely be a factor.

Honestly, we've never seen Trevino with such a weak arm as we have in the last week or so. He has always been average to slightly above. It certainly doesn't help that Stroman doesn't hold runners.
I agree with what qwik said last night that he might be hiding an injury. Honestly, with a wealth of catching high in the system, I'm not sure Trevino would really want a DL stint. If Ramirez comes up and hits with adequate defense, Trevino might be Wally Pipped.

It will be very interesting to see what Baltimore does this week when they get on base. The Orioles are 14th in SBs this year, so far.

Last night was a catalyst of everything going against the Yankees. Bigger base, over mitts, pitch clock, Stroman's slow delivery. Trevino just not getting comfortable behind the bench. Hope this isn't a new recipe for disaster. In hockey when the goalie is having a bad night he gets yanks. He should have been yanked for Wells but he was the only late inning offense.

Ramirez is a better hitter, but Narvaez is a better catcher and on the 40-man roster.

Boston also had 20 base runners and a lead from the first inning on ... most teams arent going to have that opportunity. Also ... if you throw out 1 of the 1st 2 SB attempts teams wll immediately change their strategy It was just a perfect storm and Boston being a bunch of dbags !

My 2 cents...If the Yankee pitchers get batters out, there's no need to worry about how much speed another team has.

Holy crap… Most of the time, Trevino didn't even throw the ball, even when Dominic Smith (yes, Dominic Smith) stole second by essentially trotting there without a slide. When he did throw, there was nothing on them. Something is wrong with Trevino in my opinion, but it certainly doesn't help how slow to the plate Stroman is. He might as well be a foot taller.
