There are a lot of players on this team who are lucky I am not GM, starting with Jones.

Slider outside middle taken, 0-1 Sinker down and in the zone fouled, 0-2 Slider in the drop the bat happy zone, but Jones freezes and takes it for the ꓘ, game over.
Terrible at bat by Jones ends it.
Yanks lose 7-6, their 4th loss in 6 games, drop back to 26 over .500 and 51-25. They'll lose a game to the O's and the Sox, and maybe the Rays, too, because they just scored their ghost runner in the 19th, and lead the Twins 3-2.
Another bitter loss, O's stole 4 more bases, leading to at least 2 runs, the difference in the game. Yanks had one official steal attempt, and it cost them a chance to tie it up.

Tough loss. Really could've stolen one, but a Trevino blunder and Holmes pitching like hot garbage again spoil the comeback. We have several holes and not to beat a dead horse, but our bullpen really concerns me. I have pretty much zero faith in anyone out there right now. Hopefully Gil can shut them down tomorrow and go 6-7 innings. He's looked human his last two starts after absolutely dominating for several weeks.

torres takes a FB low, 1-0 Throw over, and they nearly pick Wells FB outside, 2-0 FB above and outside middle, late and fouled off. Missed a cookie, Gleyber. Another one below and inside middle, again, late, sliced down the right side foul, 2-2 No curve....yet. Gleyber got two good pitches to hit and just fouled them off. He's been missing a lot of crushable pitches lately. The sac flies last night and tonight were on pitches he might have done more with, even last year.

Well, OK, I've checked notifications. Yanks burn the pen down tonight, losing to the O's 7-6 in 10 innings. Only pitchers fresh for tomorrow are Tonkin and Weaver, so they need Gil to battle the O's through 6, at least.
The rubber game is tomorrow, early start, 4:08 pm on YES. Lefty Cole Irvin, having a good season for so far, will go for Baltimore. He's 6-3 with a 3.03 ERA. Luis Gil, looking to regain his dominant form after having to battle through his last two stsarts, pitches for the Yanks He's 9-1, 2nd in the AL in wins, and leads in ERA at 2.03.
OK, that's going to do it for me for tonight. See you guys again tomorrow afternoon, as the Yansk try to win a series from one of the other elite teams in MLB for the 1st time this year. Good night to all of you. Bye!

Will someone please explain why guys wear metal spikes and slid head first ? Spikes are for digging in and speeding up faster on dirt. Same reason track sprinters do.

We had a good time at the theatre. The official population of Creede is 257. It survives on tourism. That said, I was truly surprised at the quality of the acting ensemble…great acting, great script, and a terrific “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”…

13 of 14 stolen bases in the LAST 2 GAMES... Boone doesn't think it influences teams.. HA HA.. We will see, but anytime someone with any type of speed gets on base there will be a steal...

some breakfast thoughts ...
yes the stolen base thing is very disturbing. the cat's out of the bag. trevino's arm appears to be weaker this season (perhaps not 100% after his wrist surgery). his teammates are gonna have to pick both he & wells up. and yeah holmes sucked for the 3rd straight outing and now has an unacceptable 79% save percentage.
on the positive side of the ledger - cole looked like ... well gerrit cole. they're gonna baby him through his next couple starts but having a full strength cole is a huge positive going forward.
volpe 3 for 4 and on base 4 of 5 times with a rare walk thrown in. he does need to walk more but hopefully he's coming out of that slump he's been in.
the hated stanton as girardi pointed out a number of times has actually had a very good june slashing .300/.373/.566/.939 w 5HRs and 16RBI in 15 games. he even appears to be catching up w some fastballs. he's playing so you take what you get there.
for the moment, ben rice looking comfortable at the plate.
