This is very concerning, not counting the 9 stolen bases in the last Boston game. That is a lot of extra bases.. I don't think they have any idea of what to do. Because Trevino is slow to throw and not a very strong arm, there is going to be more pressure on pitchers, which is not something they should be concentrating upon. Thoughts..

clearly a disturbing trend. trevino had a spectacular 2022 winning the platinum glove and had the highest CS % in the league. last season had wrist problems and surgery that perhaps he hasn't fully recovered from. has lost a few mph on his throws. the word is out and now teams are taking advantage.
in interviews, all the players (mostly pitchers) have said it's a "team" thing and that they ALL have do a better job. and yeah hate to disrupt their focus from the hitters. certainly not ideal.
don't think there's any immediate help in the system and doubt anything's happening before the TDL, so in the short term, as a team they're just gonna have to tighten things up. maybe we can talk yadier molina out of retirement ...

Actually, it is something pitchers can improve. If a pitcher is slow to the plate and pays no attention to the base runner, even Johnny Bench would not be able to control the running game. With the pitch clock, pitchers jobs have become more difficult, as they can no longer infinitely hold the ball and delay delivering a pitch. Having said that, one thing is telling about Trevino: first and third situations appear to be problematic, as zero throws have been made recently. That seems to me that Trevino is playing through some nagging physical problem because he had no trouble with those situations in previous years. If Wells was raking, it would not be as obvious a problem. Trevino’s bat and Wells’ offensive struggles are forcing Boone to rely on Trevino as a regular.

The good news is that since April 24, Wells numbers aren’t so bad. That lousy start is still weighing him down. Since April 24: .258 .309 .416… not so bad, really. I think there’s more in that tank as well…

If he was hitting like Jorge Posada, Trevino would have a role more like Higgy.

Yeah...um...it's a problem. But the pitchers have been allowing entirely too many baserunners the past few games, exacerbating the issue.
