At least you got to visit the stadium...no rainout. Please, don't get me started on one of my "they built a palace but without a retractable roof!" rants. I recall your rants in the YES forum. As I've said many times...not a fan of indoor baseball, but I can see the necessity at times. Although...how many games a year are rained out at YS?

I rather they play outdoors too, but I like the retractable roof option for when it rains. The Stadium was actually supposed to have a retractable roof. In my opinion, the retractable roof models I saw online didn't change the look of the Stadium.

Baseball, to me, is blue skies and sunshine, short-sleeves and shorts. That's the reason I really dislike games early and late in the season in many places. Cold and even snow at times. I'd honestly have no objection to the regular season being shortened...May thru Sept...back to the original Fall Classic. Will never happen, of course.

Hello everyone! I'm back after spending the week in NYC with my family. So, my first visit to the new Yankee Stadium and my son & I get the worst pitched game of the season. What's the odds? Still, it was great to finally get to the Stadium, but the team is spinning right now. I hope Gil is OK and this wasn't a sign of things and of course, the bullpen is a disaster right now. Nice to see Cashman get Gomez with the team where he belongs, although they'll probably send him back down after throwing so many pitches last night. Did you get to Citi Field?

I loved visiting New York and my family liked it too for the most part.

No, the Mets weren't in town. They're actually in Chicago right now. I did see the park from my plane window flying out from LaGuardia.

There's something special about seeing baseball fields, whether it be Yankee Stadium or local neighborhood fields, out the window of an airplane. Can't miss 'em...pure Americana.

I know you're from PA. I assume this wasn't the first time you'd been to NYC, but how about the rest of the family? I've been there several times but it's been almost 30 years since my last visit. My family never had been there before. By the time we left, they knew the streets of Midtown Manhattan and how to take and transfer on the Subway. For how big the city is, it's easy to learn how to get around without a car. The one negative, is the smell. All the garbage bags along the curbs at night and the early morning. That's not allowed in Chicago.

One thing that could help would be doing a better job of drafting and developing players, particularly pitchers. Very few pitchers on our roster were drafted and developed inhouse. The other side of the coin is that their prospects enabled the Yankees to trade for players like Holmes, Verdugo, and Soto. I guess, but I don't think better balance would hurt. Developing young players gives you years of cost effective production.
