The other side of the coin is that their prospects enabled the Yankees to trade for players like Holmes, Verdugo, and Soto. I guess, but I don't think better balance would hurt. Developing young players gives you years of cost effective production. True, I think if the Yankees re-sign Soto they are going rely more on their top prospects.

Still, it was great to finally get to the Stadium, but the team is spinning right now. I hope Gil is OK and this wasn't a sign of things and of course, the bullpen is a disaster right now. Nice to see Cashman get Gomez with the team where he belongs, although they'll probably send him back down after throwing so many pitches last night. Did you get to Citi Field? By the way, Citi Field was also suppose to have a retractable dome.

I wouldn't object to something like I believe Seattle has, which can cover the playing surface but doesn't completely enclosed the ballpark. At least I think that's the case...I've been there to catch a Yankee series, but the weather was beautiful at the time so the "roof" was open.

I know you're from PA. I assume this wasn't the first time you'd been to NYC, but how about the rest of the family? I've been there several times but it's been almost 30 years since my last visit. My family never had been there before. By the time we left, they knew the streets of Midtown Manhattan and how to take and transfer on the Subway. For how big the city is, it's easy to learn how to get around without a car. The one negative, is the smell. All the garbage bags along the curbs at night and the early morning. That's not allowed in Chicago. Manhattan creates a lot of trash. I'm usually not in Manhattan at the time when there's garbage bags out on the sidewalk for pickup. In less crowded neighborhoods that I lived in there's no smell. Not sure why it took so long, but putting out garbage bags is not going to be allowed in NYC either. It's being phased in but eventually garbage bags must be in sealed containers.

Back when burning trash was common in Metro NYC, the apartment building I lived in had a small closet-size room in which there was a small door like a dumbwaiter. You'd dump your trash in the chute which led to the incinerator. Sometimes the fire burning in the incinerator below was so strong the flames were visible when opening the access door. Compactors eventually replaced incinerators, which took all the fun out of taking the trash out.

Some of the old buildings in Chicago have those chute doors in the hallways for trash, although they aren't used anymore.

That's a nice long visit. No place in the world like NYC.

Bus tour of Manhattan, trip to Museum of Modern Art, Staten Island Ferry to catch the amazing views, walking around Times Square. I took a long run from my hotel to Central Park and back. We wanted to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn so my wife could get some camera shots there of the Manhattan skyline but it was too hot, so that was nixed.
