Today the Yanks promoted Cam Schlitter fro High A, all the way up to AAA. Don't know much about him but he has 71 Ks in 54 IP. Interesting that he is seemingly being fast tracked. I for one will be pulling for Cameron John "Bull" Schlitter! Big guy at 6'6" and was on Hudson team when DJ LeMahieu was there rehabbing. Yeah...just hope Cam doesn't eventually get shafted.

BP issues. I thought you meant blood pressure. Mine’s 123/73. I didn’t feel good about our pen this spring, but then they performed well and I felt great about them. Now they’re a dump and I don’t feel good about them again. Worst bullpen since the Ponson/Mitre days… I think many, if not most thought the Yankees needed to improve the pen. They performed well, yes, but it seemed they were overachieving and unfortunately that may be the case. Let's see if Cashman can do something now, several months after when he should have.

All the retreads we've seen come and go through the bullpen and Cashman had this guy buried in the minor leagues.

Might be the worst bullpen I've endured as a fan. 6 runs in 3.2 innings today. Absolutely horrific.

Volpe is the biggest reason the bullpen sucks. He doesn’t get on base and is just brutal to watch hit.

Meanwhile, Josh (we shoulda signed him) Bader is turning his season around, ERA down to 3.79, and Wandy is at 4.02, which beats the hell out of 6.00 like some of our studs…
And before Kaybli asks me, LeClerc is at 4.25….🤓

Schlittler was a D-1 baseball player. He is ahead of the curve both in terms of age and experience at High A. Moving him to AAA likely means he's the most experienced pitcher in the system to take Gomez' spot. Not surprisingly, he had a terrible first start in Scranton, hitting 3 batters and walking 3 in less than 2 IP. The Yankees will undoubtedly want to see what they have in him but he's still got 2 more years before he'll be rule 5 eligible. If he can demonstrate 2 plus pitches and bring his walks down, he could be a bullpen piece immediately, or they could continue to develop him as a starter. I'm leaning towards thinking that a pitcher out of the CAA is probably, in the organization's eyes, bullpen help. However, if they feel differently, they'd probably want to take the time to let him develop and not add him to the 40 man this year. I have season tickets to the Renegades, but as luck may have it with my work schedule, I never saw Schlittler start, so I can't even pretend to have a scouting report.
