Rays won 10-3. Red Sox lost 5-2. Jays lost 7-1. O's trailing the Astros 5-3 in the 6th, but with their comeback ability, that one is a long way from over. Assuming that score holds, the Yanks stay in first by 1/2 game for another day, the Sox stay 10 back, the Rays close to 13 back, and the Jays stay 14 1/2 back.

Game 2 is tomorrow at 7:15 on the SmoltzNauseaCast on FOX. Charlie Morton, perhaps not still what he was 5-6 years ago, but with a record of pitching clutch games against the Yanks, goes for Atlanta. He's 4-3 on the season with a 3.91 ERA. Marcus Stroman, wobbly lately himself, goes for the Yanks. He's 6-3 with a 3.08 ERA.
The Oilers are up 3-0 and are 20 minutes away from becoming the 2nd team in NHL history to force a game 7 in the Cup Finals after losing the first 3 games.

Tomorrow's game preview done, and no new notifications for me, I'm going to watch the 3rd period of the Oilers game. Aside from not wanting the team that beat the Rangers to win the Cup, and wanting a Canadian team to win for the first time in 30 years, I have a new reason to root for the Oilers; so the Yanks have some more company in blowing a 3-0 lead in the playoffs with all the marbles on the line.
So, in spite of the recent disastrous play by the Yankees, I bid you all a good night. See you guys tomorrow evening. Bye!

What's the catcher situation in the minors for the Yankees? Nothing personal against Treviño but his throws to second make Jamie Moyer look like Roger Clemens. We have Naervez, who’s ready, but not viewed as a starter by the Yanks. I like him. The next options are already here in Wells and Ben Rice, but they need Rice at 1B and his defense may not be ready. Then they have Agustin Ramírez on the farm who is about a heart beat behind Rice. We’re just not quite in a position to use either one unless there’s a great emergency. Maybe we should have held on to Luis Torrens instead of selling him to the Mets. Seemed like a good idea at the time…

Like it wasn't this glaring before the Red Sox series and someone pointing out his CS% is still basically league average.

w phillies loss, we still have the best record. they have now lost 6 of 9. the other best team - the dodgers lost to the angels. guess what ... good teams lose baseball games.
clearly now w 2 straight bad starts, have to be concerned about rodon. looking a lot like last year's version. hopefully gil was a one-off. while there were a couple of bumps, in the 10 games prior to gil's, the overall starters ERA was 3.23. not exactly terrible.
have to give it up for gomez who did a great job w 4.2 scoreless, saving the much beleaguered pen. and yes he's probably scranton bound but has done well in both appearances this season. and bickford did his job. tomorrow we get stroman who had one of those recent "bumpy" starts.
sale looked like the sale of old.

Offense output: 12 Ks, 3 hits, 3 walks, Soto--3Ks. I beat Soto would be happy to never face Sale again.

Just heard that Torres's MRI was clean, and he's day to day. Good news. Thanks, Max. You're welcome. I look at it as we're all here for each other, whether it's sharing info, knowledge, opinions, thoughts, and laughs.

Funny how MLB is...The Orioles looked like world beaters vs the Yankees and the next night the Astros did a number on the Orioles.

Yep, even the best MLB teams lose around 60-70 games.
I'd like to see Gomez stay with the Yankees.
