Smoltz is such a putz. I just turned on the game, and he called right field a lay-up for hitters. Makes you wonder how shutouts and perfect games are even possible here. Nevertheless, Smoltz, you lost 1-0 to Andy Pettitte in 1996 in game 5 in Atlanta, and then Jimmy Key won the series in game 6, as Atlanta and Greg Maddox lost 3-2 in New York. Where were all the lay-ups, Smoltzy? Or, do they move the fences back when the opposition bats? Moron.

Which is why I shall refer to him as IdiotSmoltz™ Stanton takes a thigh high sinker down the middle,0-1 Curve bounces over home, 1-1 Misses a change below and outside middle, 1-2 FB in almost the same spot as the change, high fly to deep right of center, Kelenic loses it, spins both ways, then all the way around, leaps to the wall and misses. Stanton turns a triple into a leadoff double.

No, that's just a playful historical oddity to be embraced.

Rice takes a curve on the corner away, 0-1 Takes a curve down and in, 1-1 Swings over a curve on the inside corner thigh high, 1-2 Fouls off a curve down and in. Curve for the backdoor misses low/away, taken, 2-2 Curve down the middle above the knees, bounced foul off 1st. Long at bat, at least Change tails way outside, from 1-2 to 3-2. Curve near the corner away, but outside, above the knees, he tries to pull it, and hits a fliner to right center, but it hangs up for Laureano, who catches, throws behind Stanton and nearly doubles him off. Not all that sure he didn't, it was close at 2nd.

Pretty good at bat by Rice. He hit the ball well for where it was placed. He doesn't strike out like Pereira and Florial.

Torres... Cutter outside, ball 1 Sinker misses outside and thigh high, 2-0 Sinker just inside, but Torres is able to turn on it, lines it to the corner in left, drops in, Wall cuts it off, but can't keep Stanton from jogging home, or hold Torres to a single. 4-1 Yanks!! Man on 2nd, 1 down for Wells.
