Wells cannot layoff a pitch that Rice did.

Wells chases a curve dropping low, foul tips it, 0-1 Fb above and inside middle, late and fouled off, 0-2 Curve to the knees inside middle, fouled Change fades outside, he chases for the K. I think Wells is going to have to shorten his swing a bit, like Volpe. This approach doesn't seem to be working.

Cabrera... Curve to the knees in the middle, taken, 0-1 Change tails well outside 1-1 FB misses outside, above the waist, taken, called strike 2 anyway. Bad call missed by 2-3 inches on Gameday. Curve above and inside middle, Cabrera misses late and under, pops foul off 3rd, Riley gets over, reaches into the well, makes a fine catch to get Morton out of the inning.
Top 5, 4-1 Yanks. 23 pitches for Morton in the 4th, 67 through 4. 6-7-8 for the Braves in the 5th: d'Arnaud, Laureano and Wall.

Wells needs to start hitting. The sooner the better. He also needs to work on his strike zone limitations, knowing what to lay off.

Is it just me or does anyone else like Waldo at third more than anywhere else?

Maybe in honor of IdiotSmoltz, I should include the term "short Porch" in front of every description of every play, no matter where it is on the field. Let's try it for an inning to see how it plays...
d'Arnaud takes a slider outside, then another low and outside, 2-0 Sinker on the corner away is fouled, 2-1 Cutter on the corner away is fouled, 2-2 Slider on the low outside cornere, grounded to the ShortPorch on the left side, Cabrera cuts it off, throws him out, 1 down.

Is it just me or does anyone else like Waldo at third more than anywhere else? He's actually looked very good at 3B...

Laureano... Takes a slider low and away, 1-0 Sinker into the top in the middle fouled, 1-1 Sinker above middle fouled 1-2 Slider misses the ShortPorch on the outside corner, but Stroman gets the call for the κ. Poor sportsmanship by Stroman taking advantage of the ShortPorch there. 2 down.

Wall takes a curve on the backdoor, 0-1 Takes a cutter up and in, then a splitter well outside, 2-1 Cutter on the outer 3rd, waist high, rolled over to Torres in the ShortPorch in the 34 hole, throws him out, inning over.
Bottom 5, 4-1 Yanks Another 1-2-3 for Stroman on 13 pitches and 67 through 5.
Volpe, Soto and Judge for the Yanks in the 5th.

Is it just me or does anyone else like Waldo at third more than anywhere else? Even better than when he made a lot of tough plays in RF a couple years ago. I saw the plays. Lots of very fortunate catches on dives that easily could have been misses. At third heβs just smooth, with a nice strong arm. Makes most of his throws in the air instead of counting on the 1B to dig them outβ¦
