Volpe... Cutter inside middle middle fouled, 0-1 Swings over a curve dropping below the knees, outside middle, 0-2 FB above the waist, outer 3rd, fouled off. Volpe guesses breaking ball by count and location, takes a FB to the ShortPorch on the outside corner below the waist for a ꓘ. 1 down.

Is it just me or does anyone else like Waldo at third more than anywhere else? Even better than when he made a lot of tough plays in RF a couple years ago. I saw the plays. Lots of very fortunate catches on dives that easily could have been misses. At third he’s just smooth, with a nice strong arm. Makes most of his throws in the air instead of counting on the 1B to dig them out… Now watch. The analytics will hate him… 🤓

Soto takes a change low. 1-0 Takes change tailing outside, 2-0 Shoots a curve for the back door, misses outside, 3-0 Cutter misses just low in the middle of the ShortPorch, ball 4, 2nd walk of the day for Soto.

Curve thigh high, outer 3rd, a location error, but Judge gets it down the end of the bat, popped to the ShortPorch in medium center, easy play for Kelenic, 2 down

His defense has been good there. can he hit enough? Alas, no. I see him strictly as a utility guy, who can play nearly anywhere defensively, run and steal a base.

Verdugo takes a cutter on the outer 3rd, thigh high, 0-1 Curve is low on the outer half, 1-1 Swings over a curve dropping just below the knees in the middle, 1-2 Throw over on Soto, who probably isn't going anywhere. Curve misses the backdoor by a good 3-4 inches, d'Arnaud freezes it, wishcasting for a call that doesn't come. 2-2 FB tails outside, rolled over to Albies in the ShortPorch of the 34 hole, throws him out, inning over.
Top 6, 4-1 Yanks. 17 pitches for Morton in the 5th, and 84 total through 5. Arcia, then back to the top for Kelenic and Albies for the Braves in the 6th.

His defense has been good there. can he hit enough? Maybe, if he can get enough steady at bats, he can figure it out. Probably not, but they have nothing better at the moment. Unless DJ finds the Fountain of Youth.
