These at bats are not poor. This is what Fried does to even good teams when he's on his game Outstanding control of 7 pitches and almost twice as many variations on those pitches. Hard to tell because they look like this against every pitcher lately Throw in Grisham's disgustingly bad at bats and Trevino's undisciplined at ABs and this is a pretty easy lineup to maneuver uh grisham's 3 for his last 4 including 2 hits off a very tough lefty today. he is what he is. hopefully he does better with more consistent work.

Trevino... Swings over a curve in the zone low/away, good morning Tries to check on a curve out of the zone low/away, can't, good afternoon Chases a curve even further outside at the knees, good night. 3 pitch K ends the Yanks' 7th.
Top 8, 3-1 Braves. Johnson does his job. If they follow their usual habit, Joe Jimenez, their current top set up man gets the 8th, and if he runs into trouble, Closer Iglesias will come in to close. Top of the order for the Braves in the 8th: Kelenic, Albies and Ozuna.

With each AB, DJ is looking more and more like DFA material. Sad but true. He's getting paid too much for too long though. He'll be around for a lot longer because of it.

Tommy Kahnle in for the Yanks.
Kelenic takes a change low. Takes a change on the inner 3rd, at the knees, 1-1 Change to the outside corner, below the waist, fouled off 1-2. Change tails outside, 2-2 Change dives to the corner inside, thigh high, swung over, K. 1 down.

Not sure Hal will pay off the deal with two more years after this one... Albies puls a change away, foul off 1st Swings over a change diving way low, 0-2 Change to the outer 3rd above the waist, Albies late and under, fouls it off. Change on the inner 3rd, dives to just below the waist, gets a swingover anyway for a K. 2 down.

Change misses low on the corner away, 1-0 on Ozuna Swings over another change that dives to the low outside corner, 1-1 Change tails to the inside corner, below the waist, pull hard but foul off 3rd, 1-1 Maybe he can throw Albies 4 straight changes, but not Ozuna Change tails inside, waist high, gets the hands in and lines it to left for a hit.

Have to credit Arcia for a good play to get Volpe at third. I think the Yankees should have challenged that the third baseman was in the baseline, as Volpe's back foot contacted the fielder on the slide before the tag was made. Or you just stay at second, already in scoring position with Judge coming up. He was out by several feet.

Riley swings over a change diving just below the knees in the middle Throw almost the exact same change, and he swings over it again, 0-2 Bounces the change in front of home, not even a flinch, 1-2 A much better change, great two plane break, dives just out of the zone low/away, and Riley flails at it for the K. Inning ober.
Bottom 8, 3-1 Braves
Grisham, then back to the top for Volpe and Soto for the Yanks in their half of the 8th.

Have to credit Arcia for a good play to get Volpe at third. I think the Yankees should have challenged that the third baseman was in the baseline, as Volpe's back foot contacted the fielder on the slide before the tag was made. It's whether he blocks the base without the ball, not if he blocks it before the tag. I think he's out no matter what. Pierce Johnson in for the Braves. Torres takes a curve outside, then misses a curve inside middle, pops it near home, caught by Murphy in foul territory, 1 down. I suppose I should have broken the sentence into two. I thought the Yankees had a better chance challenging that the fielder was in Volpe's baseline rather than that Volpe was safe, which was obvious to me that he was not. I was simply indicating when the contact was made with Volpe's foot during the play, right before the tag, simply in term of chronology.
