No, it wasn't. And good afternoon, pres. And, since the game is over...good afternoon, pres. See you Tuesday back in the game thread.

Who was President the last time we won a series? Franklin Pierce, I think. (Narrator...it was Barack Obama).

well that sux. 3 straight series losses.
nestor pitched good enough but fried was better.
2 hits each for grisham and rice but 3 Ks for verdugo and a few scattered hits from the rest of the lineup.
day off tomorrow before subway series madness.

If Soto or Judge don't dominate, this team just struggles to score. It's disappointing to waste such a good start by Nestor.

What a bummer. We’re still getting sand kicked in our faces…

Who was President the last time we won a series? Be happy we won in 2009, since that was actually the final heartbeat of the Core Four era. We've yet to prove anything in the Judge era.

The Yanks loss today is their 7th in 10 games, going back to Holmes blowing the 4-game sweep in KC.
Rays have taken a 3-1 lead on the Pirates in the 8th in Pittsburgh. Sox have a 7-4 lead on the Reds in the 6th in Cincy. The game in Cleveland has resumed, and the Guardians have rallied to a 5-3 lead in the 4th over the Jays. The O's comeback effort is underway (sort of). Westburg hit a solo HR in the 6th, and the Astros now lead 5-1, bottom 6 in Houston.
If the scores hold, the Rays and Red Sox pick up a game, but not the O's and Jays. The Yanks would still lead the O's by 1 1/2, but the Sox would be just 9 games back, the Rays 13 back, and the Jays would stay 15 1/2 back.

Well, a few positives. Nestor pitched a solid game and gave the team seven innings, which saved a tired and beaten up bullpen. Four hits today between Rice and Grisham, replacing starters. Kahnle is starting to look like Kahnle again, striking out the side. And, Holmes went 1-2-3 and gave up no runs, the first time in his last four outings.

A fine effort by Nestor, meanwhile the Yankees batting line-up was flat though out the game. I think if the Braves let Fried walk in the fall into MLB free agency, the Yankees should be right after him.

don't recall girardi's comment but the play was right in front of volpe. no way should he have run. The ball was behind him, not in front of him. If the ball was hit in front of him between him and third, then I would agree. you're right. watched the the mlb.com replays. he was running on contact and already halfway to 3B. probably couldn't have gotten back to 2B. ball was there in time but from one of the angles doesn't look like riley actually tagged him. whatever, it couldn't have come at a worse time as it negated one of the few threats we had all game.

It's also bad luck that prospects like Dominquez and Durbin are hurt at a time when they would be getting a chance in the majors.

3 straight series losses and the Mets are no longer a dumpster fire. Bummer.

Gotta go with Riz on this. One of those damned if you do...plays. Riley did catch him on the back. As I said, IMO a headfirst dive would've worked. All hindsight, of course.

Yep, if the batter had popped out or struck out, Volpe likely scores on Judge's base hit. The Yankees finally pitched a decent game and the bats were handing out singles, except for Volpe's RBI double.
