They should take advantage of Stanton's absence by giving Judge, and others, some days off from the field.

Stanton does not play the field If this is in response to my post, that's the point. Since Stanton is the DH, in his absence Judge and others can DH, giving them days off from defensive duties in the field.

One disclaimer, Davis is absolutely awful defensively at 3rd so we may not see much if any of him there. How bad is he?

One disclaimer, Davis is absolutely awful defensively at 3rd so we may not see much if any of him there. How bad is he? Let’s say pretty poor. Though his range factor and fielding percentage are both around average, something must go wrong as he has a career rTot of -15, which is worse in recent seasons. He’s played 320 games at 3Rd, 94 each in LF and at DH. He’s played 72 times at first base. Despite having fewer games at the other positions he’s -16 to -20 at those, too. He’s more legitimately a DH, but considering the lack of experience by our rookie, he’ll probably be passable, like better than Luke Voit at first…

We would have to have someone to play the field for Judge.

It's just makes sense to me that the Yankees not find a temporary new DH, but give Judge, Soto, DJ ... days off from fielding.

Platoon at first, DH when the spot is open. Innings in the field should be very limited…he’s not Dr. Strangeglove, nor the human vacuum cleaner… but he’ll beat leaving the position open…

The Mets blew it Hobie's draft pick, because there was a excellant 3B available Bob Aspromonte, who would have solve their 3B issues for many seasons to come. Hobie did get the Mets 1B/OF Marv Throneberry from the Orioles.

I'm sure you know he was the Mets' first home-grown hitting...well, star is pehaps a bit much. He was the Mets' team all-time leader in many hitting caegories into the 80's and 90's, until first Darryl Strawberry and then David Wright made the team, and compiled their stats.
