Sure...they can't, and won't, continue without offensive production from that position much longer. Don't think Peraza is the answer, but Durbin, Cowles or Vivas might provide a spark. When you got the announcers on your own network pointing out the laziness that's not good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It's certainly, obviously unacceptable, but I wouldn't call it laziness...which he's often been accused of. I think he's understandably frustrated, disappointed in himself and mentally beat down.

When you got the announcers on your own network pointing out the laziness that's not good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Strange how these same announcers never point when Verdugo and Rizzo slow jog down the line. Only Gleyber. This isn't meant to justify Gleyber's lack of hustle, but they and some fans have torn into Gleyber while giving others who've done the same a free pass. That's what happens when a player gets on someone's shtlist...no matter what they do they'll always find something to criticize. There were plenty who trashed Gleyber last year even while he was producing offensively.

I've had no problems with Gleyber in previous years I can overlook the mental stuff if he's producing his normal offense of .275 25 hr etc but there's just something not right this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It's unrealistic to think players aren't affected by constant criticism from fans...justified or not. Some more than others. Gleyber's been subjected to that for quite some time...IMO he's been the whipping boy for some. Don't know about here, but definitely on the YES board and by some fans in the stands. Anyone who's played the game knows how large a role self-confidence and, conversely, self-doubt play. Anyone who's ever dealt with an offensive slump knows that pressing is the worst thing to do...but not so easy to avoid. Same with defense...as anyone who's battled a bad case of the yips knows.

Exactly. When he makes a defensive "blunder" you can see it in his face, and I don't think he shakes it off. Once that doubt sets in it's tough to overcome. Not an excuse, just an observation.

Jones DHing? A DH is suppose to be a good hitter. I don't know about you folks, but I rather see Rice in the Yankees lineup vs a lefty than Jones being in the Yankees lineup.
I don't understand the Yankees thinking sometimes. Rice hasn't looked over-matched even against a tough lefty, as a matter of fact Rice got a hit off of Fried.

Agreed. If Torres was lazy he wouldn't have been at the Yankees Spring Training Complex before Spring Training officially started.

Thanks for the info, pres. One WFAN host was adamant that Bridges wasn't the right guy to spend all those picks on. I don't know much about him. He's another Villanova guy, right? He'd better be worth what is that, anyway? SIX first round picks and a 2nd round pick? This guy better be Maikal Jordan for that haul of potential talent. Those picks should be late 1st round picks, expensive yes, but not a big deal for a player like Bridges for a contending team like the Knicks. Bridges is another Villanova player. I'm not sure what player the radio host you speak of wanted, but Bridges is an excellent player on both ends of the court. He fills a need for the Knicks. He's also not making a ton of money by NBA money standards.

Hispanic players are often labeled as lazy. They said it about Cano. Hell, they used to say it about Roberto Clemente. I'm not Torre's biggest fan, but don't think he's lazy. I believe it's killing him inside and that has to have an effect. It's a good thing he wasn't in Yankee Stadium last night. He's starting to get that "Gary Sanchez look" and that's not good.
I also think Boone putting him in the four-hole last night was downright stupid. That had to add to the pressure he's under. I know it may sound crazy, but I actually would have played Rice at first, JD at DH and let one of them hit fourth. Rice is a good contact hitter and JD is at least an average major league hitter. Torres is neither of those now.

I also felt Davis could have batted fourth, though he made 4 outs in 3 PA last night and it would have been quite a debut for him batting fourth isn’t what it used to be now, though. The “clean up” hitter is now the #3 guy…. Looking up and down the roster, we don’t have a legit #4…we need one..

He is a lifetime .181 hitter. He shouldn't even be anywhere near Yankee Stadium. We need DJ and Gleyber to produce. It is hard for me to believe they have both just forgot how to hit, regardless of DJ's age. Maybe it starts tonight!
