Need 3 of 4 in Toronto no excuses. That seems really unlikely at this point.

Schedule before ASB isn't too bad...
4 @ TOR 3 vs CIN 3 vs BOS 3 @ TB 3 @ BAL
I think 11-5 is doable Baltimore is the only "elite" team there everyone else is average at best.

Need 3 of 4 in Toronto no excuses. That seems really unlikely at this point. Why ? Toronto is a last place team.

Like theres def issues with this team, but look at who they played :
1 of 3 LAD (No Soto all 3 games) 3 of 4 KC 1 of 3 BOS 1 of 3 BAL (No Judge for basically 2 of the games) 1 of 3 ATL 0 of 2 NYM
7-11 in that stretch only team I would call they "should have" beat in a series that they didn't was Boston.
They also haven't lost a series to an under .500 team all year.
This was a really rough stretch, but the team quality was also rough.

Yanks trudge to the airport to take a plane to Toronto for a 4-game series, where they face at least 3 pitchers they struggle against. In the Jays, they at least face a team who's struggling, too. They won last night to break a 7-game losing streak and were suspended by rain tonight. The only good news I can think of right now is that we don't have to deal with Prime Delayed Video, Apple TV, FOX or ESPN this weekend; all four games are back on YES.
Game 1 is tomorrow evening at 7:07 pm. Carlow Rodon, 9-4 on the season with a 3.86 ERA, but who's been hammered his last two games, starts for the Yanks. Jose Berrios has also been hit hard his last two, but both were against a red-hot Guardians team, will oppose Rodon. He's 6-6 on the season with a 3.43 ERA.
Game 2 is Friday evening at 7:07 pm. Marcus Stroman, 7-3 with a 3.15 ERA pitches for the Yanks. Yusei Kikuchi, who rarely seems to pitch well against anyone other than the Yanks, goes for the Jays. He's 4-7 on the season with a 4.00 ERA.
Game 3 is Saturday afternoon at 3:07 pm. Nestor Cortes who pitched a solid 7 innings vs. a tough Braves team on Sunday but was outdueled by Max Fired, goes for the Yanks. He's 4-6 on the season with a 3.40 ERA. Chris Bassitt, who shuts the Yanks down nearly every time, pitches for the Jays. He's lifted his record to 6-6 and dropped his ERA to 3.43 on the year. In his last 7 starts, he's 3-0 with a 1.67 ERA, and has a 36-to-1 (!!) K/BB ratio in those 7 starts.
The series finale is Sunday afternoon at 1:37 pm. Gerrit Cole will try to demonstrate life in his arm and get his pitchcount to 80, finally. He got blasted by the Mets last night and is 0-1 in 8 innings this season with an ERA of 9.00. Kevin Gausman, who pitches well against the Yanks whenever he's healthy, starts for the Jays. He's 6-6 on the season with a 4.26 ERA.
OK, depressing series preview done, I'l check whatever notifications I missed...

Gomez stays in. Taking one for the team. Starts the inning at 56 pitches. He'll probably be headed back to Scranton. Seems likely; not to say pretty much mandatory. They'll need a fresh slag-arm in case Rodon has nothing for the 3rd straight start.

Ok, notification checked and replied to if necessary, I go to lick my fan wounds and call it a night. Not just beaten by the Mets two straight, but beaten the crap out of by the Mets two straight. Regression to the mean is a beech. So, I'm going to toddle off. See you guys tomorrow, hoping for any sign of life from this team Good night to all of you. Bye.

During post game remarks, noticed a bottle of Caymus on Boone's table. At least he has great taste in wine. Perhaps my favorite California Cab, at least top 5.

Pitching is the name of the game. Even though the Yankees have just 2 "real" ML hitters in their lineup, they CAN win with good pitching, something they haven't been getting lately. It's another repeat of 2022, with everyone outperforming their previous numbers, only to collapse before the All-Star break. Is another "one and done" ready for us in October? 15 yrs and counting! Except 2022 wasn't a one and done playoff year.. True, it was 2 and through. That year it was Houston that stopped them. This year it'll be either Cleveland, Baltimore, or maybe even the Sox (heaven help us).

Need 3 of 4 in Toronto no excuses. Ain't gonna happen with this offense and pitching. They'll be lucky if they split the series.
