looking at the stats, springer had been on the interstate coming in and hits 2 HRs. huh? ikf hitting .283 w 6hr .734 ops. where was that ikf we had him.
looks like berrios was in total control.

Misses a FB at the very top of the zone, outer 3rd, 0-2
Curve backs up outside, 1-2
Flies open, splitter sails well outside, 2-2
FB at the top of the zone, outer half, fouled back out of play.
Same potch, popped foul off 3rd, Clement goes just past the coaches' box, catches, inning over.
Yanks lose 9-2, 4 straight L's for the 1st time this season, drop to 21 games over .500 for the first time since May 31st at 52-31, and fall into a tie for first with the O's (who are percentage points ahead), as the O's smashed the Rangers, 11-2. 1st time the Yanks haven't been alone in first since May 15th.

mercifully over. 4 game losing streak. have lost 10 out of 13 as we drop out of 1st for the first time since may 14.

There aren't resources on the team and in the org to solve all these problems at once. Pitching is the priority, if they have to live with two excellent defensive catchers who can't hit, so be it. They moved on from Rortvedt on a small sample and now he's a productive player for the Rays. I'd just roll with Trevino and Wells, and look to solve the bullpen problems, they're easier to solve anyway. |
