Slider misses high on the corner away 2-1
Sinker in the zone down and in, inside outed to Cabrera at 3rd, throws him out, 2 down.

FB above the waist, inside corner, hit hard up the middle past Volpe's dive to his left for a 2 out single.

Ok, so lemme get this straight, DJ 1st extra base hit is the drive of the game, and not the enormous 3 run bomb from Soto?? Really??? One needed it a lot more than the other, lol. |

game over. huge yankee win ending 4 game losing streak. season high 16 runs. a much needed offensive outburst where everyone took part. absolutely feasted on the jay’s pen.
gonna give soto potg. his hr jumpstarted things. will give gleyber & judge HM but also a breakout game for verdugo. jones 3 hits. volpe 2 hits. dj 1st xtra of the season.
stroman not terrible but not good. looked to me like he was showing up his IF’ers. we’ll see if it’s discussed in post game.

Turner fouls off a sinker outside, 0-1
Gets a FB waist high outer 3rd, grounds it to Volpe, who goes to Torres for the force at 2nd. Game over, Yanks look dead early, rally for 7 in the 6th, 7 more in the 9th, and rout the Jays 16-5.
Tonkin gets the W despite allowing a hit that scored a run. Yanks break their 4-game losing streak in an emphatic way, scoring the most runs they've scored in a game so far this year. Rays and O's won, Red Sox lost, so the Yanks remain tied for 1st, O's are 52-30, .634, Yanks are 53-31, .631. Sox pushed back to 8 1/2 out. Rays get back to .550 and are still 11 games behind, and the Jays lose back the game they gained last night and are 14 1/2 back again.
