Even with 3rd base being the open base here, I don't think you can let the hot hitter beat you.

Where did all our first inning runs go?… Soto seems to be fishing a bit now. I don't know if he's trying to do too much or if he was frustrated with all of the walks. He's usually a very patient hitter, but I've seen him chase a lot of pitches out of the zone this week. Judge has been getting his HRs, but otherwise, he's not putting together great ABs. At 4 for 31, I’m still wondering about his forearm…

Slurve way outside, 1-0 Slider very low and away, not close, but Stroman gets a huge break and gets the call 1-1 Sinker way outside and a bit down, 2-1 The same slider in the same spot gets the same terrible call, 2-2 Forces him to chase another slider outside at the knees, fouls it. Both balls called strike were 0% by at least 3-4 inches out of the zone. Slider further outside at the knees, not called, 3-2 on Springer. Slider just outside at the knees bounced foul off 3rd.

Sinker at the knees outside middle, grounded hard through the 56 hole for a hit, Bichette scores, 1-0 Jays. Not all that unlucky, Flats, 95 mph on that grounder.

When your infield only fields balls that are hit right at them, hitters aren't afraid to hit balls hard on the ground.

Varsho takes a cutter low in the zone outside of middle, 0-1 Takes a weak hack at a cutter at the top of the zone near middle, misses, 0-2 Slider just out of the zone down and in, spoiled FB waist high, inside by 4-5 inches fouled down. Slider drops inside at the knees, fouled off his feet. Cutter misses outside at the top, 1-2 27 pitches already. Sinker inside corner, fouled off. Bounces the curve near the inside corner, swung over, K. Inning finally over.
Top 2, 1-0 Jays. 29 pitches for Stroman in the first. At that rate, he can go 3 2/3 innings. Davis, Torres and Verdugo for the Yanks in the 2nd.
