I miss the Volpe from last year. Since he's going to strike out over 100 times anyway, let him go back to swinging for the fences every time up! At least he'll wind up driving more runs that way. What's the point of pretending to be a leadoff hitter, when he doesn't have Soto talents for drawing walks?

Soto takes a curve low in the zone, inner 3rd, 0-1 Takes a FB thigh high, outside corner, not called, Soto gets a Soto-call there, it was 70% on Gameday. Fb clips the corner in the same spot, another gift call, this one 25-30% on Gameday, 2-1 Slider backs up inaide below the waist, 3-1 Takes his timeout Slider just below where the 1st one was, but this close call is in fact a ball, Soto walks ending the perfect game bid. Unless Judge hits into a DP

Judge gets a bounced change, doesn't chase, 1-0 FB yanked down and in, 2-0 FB 97 perfectly spotted on the low inside corner, great 2-0 pitch, Judge lets it go by, 2-1 Kikuchi comes set, then steps off Slider misses just low on the corner inside, Kikuchi gives it a stare, but it missed low by 2 inches or so, 0% on Gameday. FB inside corner, jams him, but he inside outs it, breaking the bat, the grounder goes through the open 34 hole, a single. No-hitter over. Soto stops at 2nd with 1 down.

Jansen out to talk to Kikuchi... Davis... Beats him clean with a 98 FB just outside middle middle, swung under. Can't ask for a better 1st pitch FB to hit, Davis FB misses 3-4 inches above the inner 3rd, 1-1 Davis gets a FB low in the zone outer 3rd, tops a chopper to Horwitz, he fields goes after Judge coming down, Judge pulls back, Horwitz chases, then flips over him to get Davis at 1st, Guerrero looks at 2nd, then comes home to cut Soto off, and the throw is in time, but Soto beats the tag to the slap home to the Jays' dugout side, and it's tied at 1, great baserunning by Judge and Soto gets a cheap run for the Yanks to tie the game!!

Change on the low outside corner, fouled, 0-1 on Torres FB way high on the outer 3rd, 1-1 FB almost down the middle, Torres puts a good move on it, but fouls it, 1-2 Back leg slider bounced, 2-2 Curve into the top of the zone, big swing, late and under as usual when he takes the big swing, pops to Springer in short right, inning over.
Yanks use their elite hitters to get runners on base, and those same elite hitters use their heads to make a run out of nothing. Game tied 1-1 going bottom 4th. 23 pitches for Kikuchi in the 4th, and 68 total through 4.
Varsho, Jansen and Barger, 6-7-8 for the Jays in the 4th.

Varsho... Splitter gets a tiny piece of the corner inside waist high, not called, marginal, 1-2% on Gameday, 1-0 Sinker inside middle taken, took a great pitch to hit, 1-1 Slurve just above where the sinker went, jams himself, weak pop to Volpe behind 2nd, 1 down.
And again, my intenet dropped out on me for a minute, so I missed all of Jansen's at bat. Suffice it to say, he worked the count to 3-2, then chased a sinker low and away on the 7th pitch for the K, 2 down.
