Well, if I'm being totally honest, considering my preseason prediction, I'd have to say that the early season great play was as or more surprising than how this team is currently playing. Can't expect a couple guys to cary a team all year, particularly with the amount of dead wood on this roster. Verdugo and Gleyber are having the worst seasons of their careers in their walk years ... nobody wouldve expected that Cole was injured in preseason and Schmidt was getting better every start when he was injured ... That wasnt predictable Soto got hurt and went into a slump, Judge got hit in the hand a missed a game or 2 around the same time Half the Bullpen is on the IR ... the other half is mop up pitchers (the easiest way to pad your stats) ... the yankees somehow get fooled into thinking they are the answer Dominguez getting injured again was a disaster. They never add anyone midseason that adds a spark ... rather they depend on historically bad players like Grishan amd Cabrera

We need something with that kind of impact. Maybe we should move Soto before he becomes a free agent. He could fill a lot of holes with what we get back. Of course, who’s going to buy him that can give up major talent?…

I fear that if we continue down the path of signing him it’s going to be like this… forever. We’ll pay about 4 guys very well and fill the gaps with… whoever falls off the tree…

Just my advice. Don't take losses harder than the players on the teams you root for. Remember not long ago the Yankees lost a game and some players that night were having fun at MSG watching a Knicks playoff game.

Boone should give Holmes the 8th since he hasn't pitched in a while. The perfect example why if a manager's team has a lead and can win a game by using his Closer he should use that Closer....
Remember when Holmes was pitching well and Boone didn't let him pitch a 2nd inning in a save situation because he wanted to limit his innings? A game in which the Yankees ended up losing. Now, because Holmes needed "work" Boone pitches him in a game where the Yankees are losing 8-1.

Trading Soto would create a bigger hole.
If he can stay on the field, I think Effross can help the bullpen.

I'm not saying the season is over but do you at least understand why some have concerns? I still expect the Yankees to be a WC and anything can happen but when I look at how this team is constructed it's far from a sure thing. I guess it depends on your perspective as to whether you believe this is a good team going through a bad streak or a team with a lot of that is badly constructed? I think it is a legitimate question. The offense has been carried all year by Judge, Soto and Volpe. The BP is horrible and we are starting to see some cracks in the starting rotation. Several prospects who were expected to help us this year are either injured or having down years. It's really hard to add talent at the TDL, and Cash has been reluctant to move his best prospects.

Either this is a good team going thru a bad streak or a very bad team that went thru a great streak the first 72 games of the season. Can't be both. I'm going with this is a good team that maybe played a little over its head the first half of the season, but will right the ship and finish at least a WC if not division champ. I've said all along that Baltimore is a better team.

My biggest fear when the Soto trade was announced is that the Yankees moved too much pitching in order to get him. Back in the Dynasty days the Yankees were able to import great arms via trade or free agency. That isn't easy today. I don't think any single player changes the roster enough to move the best prospects in the organization. I hope Cashman doesn't "swing for the fences" at the deadline.

I think the Yankees add a reliever, may Bellinger too, I don't know. I think the latter depends on what players the Cubs want. What I don't want to see the Yankees do is make any panic trades and start trading top prospects.
