OK, Jays have taken the field. Gausman throwing final warmups. Volpe
Soto back in the lineup? Well, he's 6-12 with 1 double, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 9 BB (!!), 2 K and 1 GIDP vs. Gausman.
So that helps. A lot.

FB waist high inside corner, Volpe fouls it off. Game underway.
FB inside backs him off a bit.
FB inner 3rd below the waist, swung under.
There's the elite splitter, taken down and in, 2-2
FB tails to the inside corner, fouled back.
Volpe checks on the splitter down and well in, 1st base ump says he swung. I'm not sure. No side or top view, K. 1 down.

FB hits the inside corner, 10% on Gameday, Soto gets the Soto-call, 1-0
FB low, 2-0
FB well outside, makeup call? Called a strike, anyway. Terrible call, 4-5 inches off the plate away.
FB near the corner away, skied down the LF line, slices foul and just out of play
Splitter dives low and outside, he doesn't even flinch, 3-2
FB above the zone, Soto tomahawks a line single to right.

Soto not in the starting lineup again.  Of the 8 losses in the last 10 games Yanks have given up 7+ runs in all but one of those losses. True, but it's always nice to have one of the best hitters in MLB in the Yankees lineup. |
