He's the Jays closer du jour right now, with the injuries to Romano and Garia. FB outside, ball 1 Same pitch, pretty much, taken by Judge, 2-0 Slider just outside below the waist, swung on and missed. FB tails inside, Judge muscles it inside out over 2nd, falls in front of Kiermaier for a hit.

Verdugo jumps all over a 1st pitch FB below middle, belts it to deep left center, Keirmaier races back, times his jump correctly and takes a HR away from Verdugo banging into the wall as he caught it.

Kiermaier with an incredible catch to rob Verdugo of a home run.

Great play by Keirmaier there. Why he was the best in center for so many years, and still above average. Torres works a 3-2 count, gets a FB above and inside middle, goes well with it to fairly right, Springer goes back and catches it two steps from the track, inning over. Bottom 8, 8-1 Yanks.

Let's see if Hill stays in, or if they go to righty here.

Judge (.316) is another hit or two from a triple crown lead in the AL. He's just behind the Angels' Luis Rengifo with a .317 BA.

Rice... FB missed well outside at the knees, called a strike anyway. Terrible call, 3-4 inches outside on Gameday Takes a splitter low Takes another splitter low and just outside, 2-1 Fb up in the zone, fouled Splitter misses low near the corner inside, 3-2 Splitter misses low near the middle, ball 4. Another good patient at bat by Rice, 1st and 2nd, nobody out. Maybe Wells bunts? Love Rice's patient approach to hitting. So far his at bats look like an old school Yankee at bats. It's a good base to bulid hitting on, Max. I agree.

Schneider PH for Guerrero... Takes a FB high, Pulls a sinker away to the left of 2nd, Volpe rangs far to his lrft, gloves and throws on the move, the 10-hopper gets to Rice just in time to nail Schneider to end the inning. Great pickup, throw was desperation, but it got the job done. Inning over Top 9, 9-1 Yanks Rice, Wells and LeMahieu for the Yanks in the 8th

The reason why Flats thinks Cerone had more power than he did was that in 1980, his first season in NY, he had an outlier season for HR, mostly in the first half, and everyone thought he'd hit for more power than he used to, but he never had another season like that again.

Judge (.316) is another hit or two from a triple crown lead in the AL. He's just behind the Angels' Luis Rengifo with a .317 BA. Steven Kwan is at .370 for Cleveland. If his PA are a bit short they won’t be for long…

Wells fouls off a waist high FB inner 3rd. Gets a splitter just outside middlel hits it hard down the 1st base line, Horwitz gets a glove on it, can't quite knock it down, goes for an infield hit for Wells.
