The Yanks have a day off tomorrow before coming home to play 3 games against the talented but inconsistent Reds. (Except for the Jays, the entire East is off tomorrow; the Jays go down to Houston to start a series against the Astros.) Game 1 is 7:07 pm Tuesday evening on YES: Luis Gil has been hit hard in his last 4 starts, losing 3 of them and giving up 15 earned runs in 16 1/3 innings. He's 9-3 on the year with a 3.15 ERA, but will take the mound for the Yanks. At least he gets to face another struggling righty, Graham Ashcraft (4-4, 5.45 ERA). Ashcraft has also been hit hard his last few starts, allowing 18 ER in his last 4 starts over 19 innings. Game 2 is 7:07 pm Wednesday evening in the Prime Delayed Video Lame of the Week. Looks like a bad matchup for the Yanks. The Reds will send out lefty Andrew Abbott (7-6, 3.41 ERA) He's a five and fly lefty with so-so stuff but a deceptive motion. He's allowed 16 HR in a little less than 90 innings, but pitches half his games in The Great American Launching Pad in Cincy. Carlos Rodon, who's loooked as bad as he ever did last season in his last 3 starts (28 hits, 5 HR and 20 earned runs in 13 2/3 innings, goes for the Yanks. Rodon is now 9-5 on the season with a bloated ERA of 4.42. Game 3 is a 1:07 pm matinee on Thursday. Ex-Yankee Frankie Montas (3-6, 4.23 ERA) starts for the Reds. After shutting out the Rockies on 1 hit with 9 K's for 7 innings 5 starts back, he's 0-2 with an ERA just under 5.00 in his last 4 outings. He did pitch well and took a tough loss in his last start against the Cards on Friday. Marcus Stroman has been up and down himself lately; he's 7-3 on the season with a 3.28 ERA and will start for the Yanks. Series preview done, I leave you for a little while to take care of a couple of things. I'll come back and check my notifications in a while. Reds are coming in and that means De La Cruz and his 40 stolen bases. Pitchers just have to keep him off the bases. Thanks, qwik for the enormous amount of effort you put into the site. And thank you, desousa. A lot of the things I post are for me, I do the research because I'm curious, I'm always gratified when others find them useful, informative or enjoyable.

I forgot...one last thing to add to the game thread: The Rangers thrashed Cole Irvin and the Orioles, 11-2, to stave off a sweep this weekend in Camden Yards. Ex-Yankee Andrew Heaney pitched 7 innings of 2-run ball, allowing 5 hits, no walks, and striking out 10 to raise his record to 3-9 on the season. Outfielders Wyatt Langford and Derek Hill led the attack; Langford had hit for the cycle, scored 3, knocked in 4 and Hill hit a 2-run HR in the 2nd, walked and scored in the 4th, and hit a solo HR in the 5th.
With the O's loss, the Yanks move back into a tie for 1st in the East. O's are 53-31 (.631) and the Yanks are 54-32 (.628).

Sorry about that. My browser crashed on me just before the last pitch Must have been Volpe's fault, along with the Yankees bullpen woes.

Volpe needs to be removed from the leadoff Do you think that the Yankees should have traded Spencer Jones for Burnes?

Yep, the Reds have some very good rookies/second year players that can hit. I hope the Yankees don't take them lightly.
