In the NL East, the Phillies (54-29) have fallen on some hard times, losing star hitters Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber to the IL in the same week. They're 5-5 in their last 10, and allowing the Braaves to stay within striking ranger. The Braves have won 2 straight and 6 of 10, and are 11 games over and 7 games back. The Mets continue their hot play. They lost yesterday on a brutal blown save by Reid Garrett, but have won 7 of 10, have climbed back from 11 games under to even .500. They've 5 1/2 back of the Braves and 12 1/2 behind the Phils. The Nats fell to 4th. They've lost 6 of 10, are 4 games under, 2 behind the Mets, 7 1/2 behind the Braves and 14 1/2 out of first. The Marlins had a decent stretch recently. They've won 6 of 10, are 23 games under. They're 9 1/2 back of 4th, 11 1/2 behind NY, 17 behind Atlanta, and 24 games out of 1st.

Wells takes a splitter outside, 1-0 FB in a crushable spot, just below and inside middle, but he misses, fouling it back, 1-1 Splitter low on the corner away, fouled off, 1-2 FB above and inside middle at 96, fouled back. Splitter bounced just outside an taken, 2-2 He's going to have to start riking that splitter that starts inside to lefties and winds up low over the middle to get more chases. FB outside, 3-2 Humps up to 98 on the FB inner 3rd, but Wells fouls it back again. Good spoil there. FB just below the waist on the corner away, swung under for the K. Again, a swing angle change will probably be necessary. Something is definitely wrong with his swing. He seemingly has a good approach, but he just misses too many pitches. |
