Cutter just above middle middle, Judge misses it clean, 0-1
Cutter well outside at 97, Judge chases, 0-2
Cutter down the middle above the knees, Judge puts a good swing on it, but fouls it back to the right,.
Slider at the knees, outer 3rd, Judge fouls it to stay alive.
Cutter runs inside at 96, that looked like a sinker, not a cutter.
Hanging slider down and in, and Judge hits hard, but off the end of the bat, high fly to the corner in right, caught by Martini, Soto makes a good play, tags and goes to 2nd. 2 down.

Cutter down the middle, rolled over to India, waits for Steer to get to 1st, throws out Verdugo, inning over.

Red Sox beating up on the Marlins as they should, up 5-0 in the 5th in Miami.
Jays lead the Astros 2-0, bottom 3 in Toronto.
Rays-Royals in about 15 minutes from now.
O's-Mariners in about 1 hr. 45 minutes from now.

1st pitch FB, lined into the corner, Soto waits for the hard carom, but it dies there, and make for an easy well it should've been a standup triple, but he did the eyewash head first slide into 3rd.

Candelario swings on a 1st pitch change on the low outside corner, rolls it over to Torres, throws him out, no play at home with infield back, 1-0 Reds.

Throw over.
Takes a FB inside middle, 1-1
Change in the zone down and in, fouled, 1-2. Bad change there, wound up just below and inside middle
Slider well outside again, 2-2
2nd throw over and now Steer can run at will.
Change tails well inside, does the Jeter throw the arms up thing to evade, 3-2
Rushes and flies open, as Steer goes on the pitch, and the slider backs well high above the corner inside, ball 4.
The wheels are wobbly, so Blake goes out to try to settle him back down.

Just a two man lineup right now. Last season, Volpe's best month was June. Not this year. He's fallen from .299 BA and an .803 OPS to staring down at last season's numbers. |
