Boone uses the closer Holmes to chase the 1-run deficit. Not many other decent options, considering they used Weaver for 2 chasing the deficit last night. And Holmes is on 2 days' rest. Sadly not many save chances for Holmes during this rough stretch. I agree. Just don't like using the closer when behind. Can't be helped in this spot, I know. Marte takes a slider above middle 0-1 Chases a slider low/away, 0-2 Chases a slider way low, strike 3. Holmes strikes out the side, leaving the Yanks within...ahem...striking distance. Bottom 9, 3-2 Reds. Diaz coming in to face Wells, Volpe and Soto. |

Swings over the tough slider down and in, 0-2, losing the bat.
FB up in the zone spoiled
Slider on the back door spoiled
Slider thigh high near middle, fouled
Slider backs up outside, 1-2
Slider well inside makes him back off with the feet, 2-2
FB missed just inside by an inch or two, Great take, close call, 3-2
FB at the top, fouled off.
10th pitch coming and this is a great job getting this far after falling behind 0-2.
Slider barely missed the low outside corner, ball 4. Very very close. Could've gone either way. Great great at bat by Wells.
