Another embarrassing defeat at home against a bad team. At this rate the team will be lucky to finish the season still over .500.

FB above and outside middle, Soto misses under, pops to short left, Steer comes in and catches, game over.
Yanks fall short again, 3-2, their 12th loss in 16 games, and lose another series. They haven't won any of their last 6 series.
They fall back to 20 games over .500 at 53-33, first time they've been just 20 games over since May 30th.

So Volpi swings at a pitch at shoe tops and hits into a double play. I know he got a key double but he is a terrible lead-off hitter. He could have bunted the runner, just waited for the right pitch to go the other way to make sure Judge get an at bat.

Sox gain another game on the Yanks, they beat the Marlins, 7-2. Sox were 14 games behind after the 1st game of the series in Fenway, Verdugo's big game, and have basically cut that in half in less then 3 weeks, they're now just 7 1/2 back of the Yanks.
Astros have things in hand, 9-2 in the 9th in Toronto, so the Jays won't gain on the Yanks
Royals hanging on to a 2-1 lead on the Rays in the 6th in KC, but I wouldn't bet on the Royals holding onto that one.
O's-M's get under way in about 15 minutes.

yup the losing continues to drop 1 1/2 behind the o's pending the outcome of their game against the mariners.
rodon wasn't terrible. two mistakes hit out of the park but that's all you need against this anemic offense. they had some chances. judge grounds into a DP on a rocket and the next inning a terrible AB by grisham. volpe after getting a huge double to drive in our only runs, grounds into a DP in the 9th.
bullpen a solid 3 2/3 innings. might have been the best holmes' has looked all season.
