Sheesh, this is sleep-inducing. I was, as Billy Joel would say in one of his songs..."Sleeping with the television on."

🧢 off. 🫡🇺🇸 Multiple bronze stars for James C. Krupp! If that doesn’t start the offense, what will?… A bench clearing brawl.
A good trade for a hitter.
Triple A call up(s) that can hit.

Ben Rice - leadoff walk. Impressive! I agree. Some recently promoted players from Triple A might have tried to do too much like trying to tie the game with 1 swing. I have to say it again, love Rice's approach and he doesn't looked overwhelmed at all.

Pathetic AB by Grisham. I would have preferred Jahmai Jones over that. No way to sugarcoat it. Wilson just overpowered him.

Marte is not Sterling nor is he Ketel as he fans on three pitches… Yeah, but he's one of the top prospects the Reds received when they traded Castillo. There's a chance that he eventually might be better than both those players you mentioned.

Great AB by Wells! Lead off walk! He took some nice swings against a very good pitcher. In my opinion, Wells just missed hitting the ball hard and maybe tying the game with 3 pitches, but he was just a half a second late.

Just an awful AB by Volpe. Yep. The pitcher just walked Wells, and Volpe was ahead in the count. I wish he would have waited for a pitch that he could have driven.

Next time Boone, when you're making out the lineup, don't overthink it. Just play your best players. In the days of analytics, I'm not sure who makes out the lineup.

I am surprised he has 26 walks. Given the names that follow his on the lineup card, I'd have a fit if my pitcher walked him. I would like him to bunt more often but nothing wis working for him right now. I get your point but I think there are a lot of pitchers in todays game that have trouble throwing strikes. In the AB I was being critical of the batter before him walked and if he would have laid off a ball well below his knees he is in a hitters count and can look for a ball to drive. He was in swing mode. I'm not comparing Volpe and Soto, Soto is the far better hitter but I am a bit surprised he has walked so much with Judge batting behind him. I get that you want to be careful with Soto but you also don't want runners on base for the best hitter in baseball. Continuing this thought, I'm also surprised teams are not walking Judge more. He has zero protection behind him and right now if I'm playing the Yankees I'd take my chances with Verdigo even with guys on rather than pitching to Judge. I just saw that Volpe is dropped in the order today in favor of Ben Rice.

Judge's DP? He hit the ball hard, he can't place it.
About the Cashman criticisms, take a look at the standings and other teams rosters. There's not a perfect roster out there.

I am not a fan of hitting coaches. In fact, at the major league level one of the very few reasons you hire one is so you have someone to axe when things go sour. But even I think it is too early to start firing people.
