wow just got in. are they replaying yesterday's game. down 2-0 bottom of 3rd. nothing against montas.
heading out to a bbq so won;t see much of this ...

Swings under a cutter into the top of the zone, 2-2
Takes his timeout
97 mph sinker with good movement in 2 planes drops to the knees, gets a rollover groundere to Steer, flips to Montas, 1 down.

Montas looks like the guy that Cashman thought he was trading for in 2022. At least so far. Cashman really shouldn't evaluate pitchers on how they pitch against the Yankee line-ups he's assembled. |

Takes a splitter that bounced over home, 2-0
Late and under a FB in the down and in happy zone, fly to left center is an easy play for Benson, 2 down.

Valid point, but Montas also pitched good games in his last two starts against the Cards and Red Sox, who have been among the hottest teams in MLB the last 3-4 weeks. Grisham takes a FB in the zone low/away for a strike. FB inside makes him pull his hands in, 1-1 Bounces a splitter, 2-1. Grisham takes a cutter near middle, 2-2 Takes a cutter way low, 3-2 Sinker misses inside 2-3 inches. Maile froze the catch, but no sale on the call, ball 4 and at least the perfect game is over. |

Cutter above middle jams him a bit somehow, and his fliner right right center is an easy play for Benson, inning over.
Top 4, 2-0 Reds.
17 pitches for Montas in the 3rd, and 39 through 3.
Steer, Fraley and Marte for the Reds in the 4th.
Red Sox lead the Marlins 1-0 in the 4th in Miami
Astros-Jays are 3-3, bottom 3 in Toronto.

Misses badly with a sinker, was supposed to be outside, drifted inside middle middle, but Steer misses badly as well, tops it to Volpe for the 1st out.

Montas is at 39 pitches after 3. I thought Montas' unfamiliarity with pitching in Yankee Stadium might be an advantage for us. Not so far. |

Sinker into the top of the zone, fouled.
Splitter misses below the inner 3rd, 2-1
Sinker 4-5 inches outside, slaps a liner to the left side, Cabrera leaps, but slightly mis-times and it goes off his glove for an infield hit.
