That strike 3 call on Judge looked low. Marginal, Max. 5-10% strike on Gameday. Could've gone either way, as Paulie said, I think.

Wait, Volpe is hitting 6th now? Who the heck is hitting leadoff?

Tries the sinker inside to jam Volpe, he takes it, 1-0 Takes a cutter low on the inner half, 2-0 Trying to get him to hit a grounder to the left side or swing over. Sinker thigh high outside middle, Volpe early, bounces it foul off 3rd. 2-1 Perfect thigh high sinekr starts outside, clips the corner, Volpe fooled, but if you're looking to go the other way, that's the pitch to do it with. Slider bounced outside, 3-2 Takes his timeout Sinker down and in?

Volpe gets a break, he's late and under another sinker below and outside middle, pops it foul just out of play behind first. Sinker inside near the corner, too close to tam, jams him but he manages to spoil. Good job with a tough pitch that might've been called strike 3 if he takes it. ARRRGGGGG Gets a sinker right down the middle, thigh high, fouls it almost straight back.

Happy 4th of July! Rice is your new leadoff hitter, Volpe dropped to 6th. Need Gleyber and Verdugo to start hitting. I dunno what to think of Volpe at times he looks great and others he can't buy a hit or even get on base. It's one extreme the other. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good at bat by Volpe, but an out just the same.

That strike 3 call on Judge looked low. The YES box is terrible. According to MLB data, the pitch was not only a strike, but 100% in the zone with room below the pitch in the zone as well.

Can't anyone besides Judge or Soto get a hit with men in scoring position?

Hanging cutter near middle, but Volpe misses late and under, pops to Fraley in shortish right, inning over. Montas threw 5 or 6 really good pitches that at bat, but that wasn't one of them. The last two were very hittable and he missed both.
Top 5, 2-0 Reds. Yanks made Montas work that inning, 28 pitches and 67 through 4, but nothing to show for it. Benson, and then the top of the order gets their 3rd look at Stroman; India and De La Cruz.

That's probably the statcast box which gives at least 2-3 low and also high on some pitches. The truth is in between.
