The subject matter of the post was relevant six years ago, but it’s long past it’s expiration date… Kind of like the Yankees last World Series appearance. It's was so long ago, it's getting hard to remember.

What's your opinion of Alan Shepard's golf swing? Some say it's out of this world. He has a lot more success getting his shots airborne on the moon…hits a lot of low screamers on earth… I was thinking about buying an Edsel, but I heard a song from the future that said it's a no-go. Speaking of swings, I wonder if the Brooklyn Dodgers and Yankees will make it to the world series. I didn't realize that Alan Shepard and his crew made it back to earth already. Thanks for the info.

Teach them about our passion and our patience. If they ask who was our star, give them twenty-five names. And if you forget our names, just tell them we were YANKEES. And in the season of our lives, we became a team. A team that made people believe that baseball could be magic, and men could be perfect."
Oh, wait that was for the 1998 team. Yep, 2009 was long ago.

Edsel. We had a rather homely classmate, a girl whose parents bought an Edsel, gaining her the nickname of Edsel. Despite her appearance it became know that she was very loose. The joke was that when she pulled into the town grocery lot, six cars would follow her back out and out of town. There was a long line at our graduation party to “visit” with her in the bushes out beyond the pond on the property. I feel so bad because I didn’t join the queue to wish her a happy ever after like some estimated 55-60 other people did…they say the gym teacher was in the line. It was said by other boys that had seen him in the shower that he had three legs… I never saw… One year sang in talent show. A surprisingly talented mezzo soprano. The choice of song was “I Feel Pretty.”…

Wasn't the lack of pitching depth forseeable ? Cashman traded away arms during the offseason as if he had trees growing them in Tampa. Soto has been fine and Verdugo has contributed, but at the end of the day the game is still about pitching. He did move a lot of arms but most of them are underperforming. Who knows if they would have been better in NY. King has been ok, with a 7-5 record, 3.51 era but a 1.27 WHIP. Vasquez has struggled at 2-4. 4.88 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP, Brito is 1-2 with a 4.35 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. Thorpe who is now pitching for the White Sox is 2-1 with a 4.43 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. He's young and may get better. Peralta who left as a FA is 2-1 with a 3.94 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. Hold that thought until October, The season has 700 innings left to pitch and if there is a postseason, as many as 100 more added to that. While I don't think any of the arms the Yankees sent away are CY candidates, the cumulative effect of losing all those guys has the Yankees relying on some very marginal talents. One guy you did not mention in your list is Greg Weissert. The guys I know who follow the Red Sox are good with that deal.

The current playoff structure is a cure for dynasties. The term is now overused…

I always said it's not Boone as much as the mistakes Cashman gives him. He is an analytical players manager. He grew up in the game and I have no problem with his game knowledge. In this day and age it's hard to call out millionaire players but I wish he would stop with the canned backing the player BS and just say what needs to be said.

In this day and age it's hard to call out millionaire players but I wish he would stop with the canned backing the player BS and just say what needs to be said. That's not in his make up and after 6 years I doubt he changes. Players probably appreciate it and you would hope it translates into them playing hard for him but that certainly hasn't been the case lately. He shouldn't have said DJL was hustling. That makes him look out of touch, could have said somthing like "I'll have to go back and look at the play more closely". I've defended Boone in the past and I still don't think he's the problem. I see a manager with very few options and is often asked to make the right call between two bad options. Looking at this roster I'm just not sure what he can do to improve our chances of winning each day. His bench right now is Davis, Cabrera and Jones. Are any of those players going to give us a spark? Several starters are and have been struggling for awhile but there really isn't any viable options to replace them so you have to hope they turn it around. His pitching choices right now may be even more limited. His starters aren't going deep so he has to rely on the pen for at least 3, usually more innings every game. Which RPs are doing their job and can be trusted? Right now it's Weaver and Tonkin, end of list. Every single time he chooses someone other then them there is a high probability of a bad outcome and he is open to second guessing. Most know my feelings about Cashman and IMHO, he has created this mess and based on decisions he has made over the past several years he has damaged the franchise.

It's always easy to start blaming the manager when the season falls apart like this but that being said, Boone needs to go. This is an instant replay of 2022 all over again in that Boone is very good at being "present" when everything is going well but as soon as the team hits injuries and adversity he does not have the leadership skills to pull them out of it. I get so tired hearing about him being a great "players manager." Of course the players love him - it's like having a boss that you feel no pressure to perform for which is great when you are performing but does little when you are not. Boone and Cashman both need to go and the Yanks need a fresh start. End of story.

stay focused on this topic. when boone the goon was hired i hated that decision. why the fuck we hired someone who never managed before? can someone please explain this to me? because we have wasted years with this inexperienced goon! If you are asking this question you haven't been following. Boone was hired because he worked cheap, lacked the gravitas to challenge the front office, carried a low key demeanor and knew his place. When Cashman got control of the organization he found a manager to follow his game plan and deal with the media. Boone fit the bill. Boone is no smarter or dumber than the rest of us and gets paid a good bit more. He has the job security of a NYC school teacher. That is not a bad gig. As others point out, the real issue is the roster.
