Somebody is reading my replies at YES again. Verdugo fouls off a pitch on the corner away, 0-1 Takes one high, 1-1 Fouls off a low cutter, 1-2 Takes a FB up and away, 2-2 Misses late and under a cutter outside middle, pops it to Duran in left, 1 down.

Grisham takes a cutter to the outer 3rd, waist high, 0-1 Reaches for a change tailing outside, taps it foul off the 1st base line, 0-2 Change waist high, outside corner, misses late and under, pops it to short right, near the short stands by the kick wall, Refsnyder coomes in and to his left, catches in fair territory, inning over, and it looks like Rice will have to "settle for" 3 HRs today.
Top 9, 14-4 Yanks. Maciejewski will try to close things out for today against Smith, Rafaela and Duran.

Yankees might be getting 2 bullpen pieces back soon (posted this in another thread bit figured it would get more activity here)
RHP Scott Effross (Tommy John surgery, back surgery) Expected return: After the All-Star break Effross had his Minor League rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on June 26. He had previously made two appearances with Single-A Tampa.
"He’s continuing to build up,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on July 6. “It’s been a long time, being off that mound. So he needs that long runway.”
Boone said that the Yankees will not necessarily wait until Effross pitches in back-to-back games before activating him.
Effross is recovering from Tommy John surgery performed in October 2022, though he began experiencing back discomfort in autumn 2023, which prompted a microdiscectomy of his L-4 and L-5 vertebrae in December. (Last updated: July 6)
RHP JT Brubaker (recovery from Tommy John surgery) Expected return: After All-Star break Brubaker was moved from Double-A Somerset to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on July 5. He has pitched with Single-A Tampa and Somerset during a Minor League rehab assignment that began on June 19. Acquired from the Pirates on March 29, Brubaker is recovering from Tommy John surgery performed on April 12, 2023. He has been targeting the All-Star break for a big league return, and the Yankees have spoken optimistically about Brubaker helping them during the second half of the season. (Last updated: July 5)

Smith takes a sinker low, 1-0 Sinker above middle, lined to right for a hit, Judge cuts it off, and holds Smith at 1st, as if he would test Judge down by 10 in the 9th.

Rafaela takes a change up and away, 1-0 Takes change outside, 2-0 Swings over a change low, 2-1 Somehow misses a sinker nearly down the middle, 2-2 Change outside, 3-2. Up by 10 Eyechart, must challenge here. And he doesn't, change 6 inches outside is chased by Rafaela for the K. And I guess he's right, very low BB rate, and he's probably the only hitter on the Sox who chases that pitch, down by 10 in the 9th.

Duran gets a sinker to the knees in the middle, pulls it foul off 1st Slider way outside at the bottom taken Better slider, but only by a little and he chases. Slider outside at the knees, nubbed in front of home, Wells takes the briefest of looks at 2nd, then thinks better of it, gets the sure out at 1st. Smith to 2nd with 2 down.
