Arg. Good sinker clips the outside corner, 0-1 Slap that to left if he throws it again. Change on the corner away a bit lower, and he tries to go to left, fouls it off. Flies open a bit, the sinker misses well outside, 1-2 If I were Winckowski, I'd throw the cutter here. And he does and it braks sharply, winds up thigh high on the corner inside, and Rice swings over it. excellent sequece, away, away, away to get ahead, then bust him inside with your best pitch, the cutter. K, Inning over.
Top 3, 1-0 Yanks. Frustrating, but they were lucky Trevino's strike 3 wasn't called, or they'd never have gotten that far. 27 pitches in the 2nd and 45 through 2 for Winckowski Top of the order for the Sox in the 3rd: Duran, Hamilton and Abreu.

It's just too much for this team to get that big hit that does serious damage.

And before I completely forget: Rice's 2nd HR: 105.1 mph, 390 ft, 30° launch angle , a HR in all 30 parks.

Bad fundamental baseball. Boone is to blame too for not giving him the take sign. If you're serious (and I can't be sure on the internet), Volpe should know it without having to be told. I was serious. You're right about Volpe. But, in my opinion, Boone should have made sure that Volpe took a strike.

Duran... Slider misses well low, outer half, 1-0 FB thigh high in the middle, fouled, 1-1 FB inside corner jams him, he pops it to short right, but Cabrera takes a smart route and makes what might have been a tough catch look easy. 1 down.

A low pitch count, quick inning by Cole here would be nice.

Hamilton gets a hanging change outside middle, lines it over Judge's head off the wall in right, Judge does well to play the carom and prvent it from becoming a 1 out tripe. Double for Hamilton, Abreu batting with 1 out.

Abreu... Takes a 1st pitch curve drove into the zone just above middle middle, 0-1 Takes a FB outside thigh high, 1-1 Curve to the low inside corner fouled. Takes a FB Up and in that makes him bend back, 2-2 Pickoff to 2nd, Hamilton beats it back. Volpe thinks he got him, but he didn't. FB clips the high outside corner, not called, 20% on Gameday, so probably should be a strike, but marginal. 3-2 Hamilton gets a big jump, but the FB at 99 above middle, Abreu misses under, popped to short center, Volpe backpeddles fast, but Grisham calls him off, comes in and catches, and Hamilton goes back to 2nd, 2 down.
