1st pitch to Rice is a sinker well below the knees in the middle of the plate. Cutter near middle with good drop topped foul at his feet. Sinker misses outside, 2-1 Swings over the sharp dropping cutter down and in out of the zone, 2-2 Fouls off a cutter in the drop the bat happy zone. Cutter hangs just inside middle middle, belted deep down the line in right, lands in the 2nd deck for a leadoff HR, 1-0 Yanks.  |

Volpe takes a slider below middle, 0-1
Fouls off a slider into the zone up and in, 0-2
Chases a slider low and manages to spoil
Fb above the zone, chased for the K. Another bad at bat by Volpe. I don't know what can turn him around, but he's not using the same approach as he was early in the year. Swinging at way too many pitches now.

Verdugo's 10th HR (and his first since the first game in Boston, I think): 103.1 mph, 422 feet, 28° launch angle, a HR in 28 of 30 parks.
