All good points and I wouldn't have had a problem with taking him out I just have a really hard time seeing this BP get 9 outs in a scoreless game. Just like I would have felt nervous if they had a one run after 8 innings, because everyone has lost confidence in Holmes, except Boone. I was pretty surprised to learn today that Holmes made the Allstar Team.

This is not a Championship team! Pitching is weak! The talent is just not coming up through the system! This team is hot and cold. We saw in this series both versions. All depends which one shows up if they get in. Obviously need some activity at the trade deadline and I still think their chances of getting in are fine long as they keep the cushion in the 4-5 game range at the ASB like it is now or more.

From the box score looks like at least Gil was solid. Offense was a big ZERO. Gil was excellent, JEG. He reversed the use of his slider and change, using the slider much more often. He even threw 3 of them down and in to lefties for K's. He battled through 6, but Crawford not only shut down the Yanks, he shut them down on very few pitches, as if he was Greg Maddux.

I usually don't turn a game off before it's over but I shut this one off before the second Devers HR landed. The most frustrating part was that they wasted outstanding outings by Nestor and Gil, the exact kind of starts they never got against Boston in the past. With just a little help from the offense and Holmes, they could have swept this series. Yep, they wasted two outstanding starts in this series because of bad offense against good pitchers, but also bad baserunning and bad relief pitching.

The inability to advance base runners has been a problem for several years now.

All 3 games could have went either way, but moral victories don't count in MLB standings. In my opinion, the Yankees should have won 2 out of 3. They gave away game one, won game 2, but were simply out pitched in game 3 despite Gil's very good start.

They’re now 6-16 in their last 22 games. I don’t see how anything gets that much better..

Exactly I've read a lot of stats and this is different from 2023 in there they were just dead last in everything. If you look deeper into the stats I read yesterday in this stretch they still scored the 9th most runs in mlb. Full season numbers still 2nd in hr 2nd in rbi tied for 1st in runs. 1st in walks. Their strikeouts are way down only 19th which is good for them when they usually top the league. The pitching is what has faltered them the most in this stretch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We are probably now where we hoped to be. We just got there with strange streaks that did not reflect our real ability. We are better than we were last year although not the elite team of yankee teams of the past.

We are better than we were last year although not the elite team of yankee teams of the past. This is fair. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It may be but the way I look at it is that every team goes trough streaks of hot and cold but to be as good as they were for as long as they were and then fall off the map this way and show little if any ability to turn it around speaks to leadership to me. I have said before but this is an Aaron Boone problem. The team is not responding to him or feeling any urgency. This is EXACTLY what happened in 2022. The only difference there was the Yanks had run away with the division and now they are 4 back in the loss column. They will be lucky to get a wild card at this point and even if they do it will be another early exit. Boone and Cashman need to go. They can't even keep the team winning with a $300 million payroll. DJ is washed and needs to be gone, Stanton, while improved can't stay healthy and takes FOREVER to recover when he gets hurt. Soto won't be back because they can't afford him. Torres is at best a streaky hitter who is not reliable defensively. Rizzo is washed and won't be back next year. Rice is not even a first baseman and I am not sold on him. Verdugo started great but has faded to crap. Outside Judge and Volpe I am just not sure what we have to be excited about long-term. The starting pitching is turning into a mess in that Rodon can't stay sharp and is a middle of the rotation guy at best, Gil has come back to earth and the league is figuring him out. Cortez is decent but again a 4th or 5th starter to me. Schmidt was doing well but gets hurt. Even Cole looks like he may not be the pitcher he was. The bullpen? Are there any shut down arms out there anymore? I can't believe Holmes made the All Star Team. All in all it's a sad state of affairs and I know none will agree but the Yanks should be sellers at the deadline and tear this thing apart starting with Boone and Cashman. The only players that should be safe are Judge, Volpe, Cole, Schmidt, Cortez, Gil, Hamilton and Weaver. Soto is a free agent and I just don't want to see the Yankees go all in and bury themselves in another Stanton type deal. Everyone else? Ask Michae Kay.

Soto is on his third team and the other two teams that had him let him go due to fears of his price tag. He’s almost destined to land in LA, where the money flows like water…
