I will never get use to seeing someone with 2 strikes watch a third strike right down the middle of the plate... What was Verdugo thinking????

What are you looking for Verdugo? Thought it was the change going outside, but it was a slider breaking middle instead. Regardless of what type of pitch he might be looking for, he should protecting the plate when down two strikes... |

Chases a good change diving low, 0-2
Fouls off a FB just high, at the corner away.
Fouls off a change just low, outer 3rd
Takes a curve well low in the middle
Then a FB above the outer half, 2-2
Goes after a change well outside, chops it over the mound, but Torres is there near 2nd, throws him out, 1 down.

Rosario takes a curve well low, 1-0
Takes a FB that catches a piece of the corner inside, waist high, 1-1
Takes a curve way low, 2-1
Swings over a slider down and in, 2-2
FB into the top of the zone insider, flares it to the RF bullpen mound, but Soto has no shot, it lands on the field well away from him.
Change low in the middle, chopped down 3rd, DJ's only play is to backhand and throw in one motion, but it gets by him for an infield hit. Volpe late getting over, but Rosario stays at 1st with 1 down.

Gets way under a slider, it backs up way high, ball 4.

Rushes, flies open and gets under another FB, flies up and away, 2-1
Freezes him with a FB just below the high, inside corner, 2-2
Takes his timeout. Rodon at 65 pitches already, 22 this inning.
Change near middle, fouled off Wells and he's hurt a bit. Gets back behind the plate.

Overthrows a 97 FB high, ball 3.
Looks like another 30 pitch inning for Rodon.
Somehow misses a slider in a terrible spot, just below and inside of middle. I guess he thought it was a FB, lucky for Rodon.
