Volpe... Gets a curve above and inside of middle, fouls it off. 1-1 Sinker inside at the top ties him up, and he pushes a grounder to Diaz, who rushes the DP, steps on the bag and wheels too fast, fires high getting over Walls into left for an error as Torres moves on to 3rd with 1 out. Yanks must take advantage of the huge break. Diaz had time to turn the 3-3-6 DP, but threw it away. Sorry not to be an ahole but you're so far behind it's confusing Volpe was out like 10 min ago It's never 10 minutes, unless my internet glitches on me. Which it did at one point. But when it's on Prime Video, I'm normally 2-4 pitches behind.

Did Judge just get Wally Pipp'd ??? Have we seen the last of Judge with the emergence of Grisham !!!?!?!? Nope...simply a matter of giving credit when due. What's wrong with that?

Same assortment, basically, but doesn't throw as hard, about 3-4 mph slower. I meant his looks, not how he pitches Oh, OK, didn't pick up on that. Sorry.

Eflin still in for the Rays. Grisham takes a sinker above and inside middle, 0-1 Cutter in the same spot, fouled down the left side, 0-2 FB misses up and away by 2-3 inches, 1-2 Curve bounced over home, 2-2 Gets a sinker above the waist, down the middle...and just...watches it...go by. ꓘ. 1 down. Grisham seems to take an inordinate number of strike 3's. He takes a lot of pitches and falls behind a lot. So I guess it's just his "approach". Or maybe he can't command the zone anymore.

Yanks need yet another at-em ball here, I think. It's almost like you watch a lot of Yankee baseball!!! I do... But still...not a "call". An informal prayer, maybe, but not a call.

Bounces a slider well outside and a great stop by Trevino to save a wild pitch Takes a sinker to the knees, in the middle, 1-1 Slider waist hgih, outer 3rd, hammered up the right center gap, heading for a 2 run double, but Grisham materializes on the dead run with a back hand catch to save the game, at least for now. Well, I sorta called for an at-em ball, and Holmes got one. Great strategy, hunh? Top 9, 2-1 Yanks. Would it be too much to ask for an insurance run? I suppose it is. You greedy &*&^ !

Manuel Rodriguez in for his 1st major league game I think. I know nothing about him. He'll faced Torres, Volpe and Grisham. He has a 2.79 ERA according to MLB, so he's seen some action. Yeah, I didn't remember he was briefly with the Cubs in 2021 and 2022, either. I'm sure the Rays didn't pick him up in an obscure trade with the Cubs thinking they could turn him into another hard throwing middle releiver/set up guy, right? Rodriguez was brought to the majors by the Rays after they played the Yanks, and just called him back up on Sunday or Monday. Career ERA in the majors was 4.39 in 41 innings over 43 games, with 25 walks in those 41 innings, but just 4 in 9 2/3 his first time around with the Rays.

I don't remember Rodriquez at all with the Cubs.

OK, notifications checked and responded to as needed. With all the other things I'm doing, I don't have time to read every reply in the thread while the game is going on, especially on a night like tonight when I have to play catch up with the PBP all night long. A's held on to beat the Red Sox 5-2. Embedded Yankee J.P. Sears held the Sox to just one 1 run in 5 2/3 innings, allowing just 4 hits and 2 BB and striking out 8, getting his record to 6-7 on the season. Jarren Duran actually got a hit of Mason Miller with two outs in the 9th, but Miller struck out 2 in his scoreless inning, including Wilyer Abreu with Devers on deck to end the game and earn his 15th save. Holmes must be better than Miller; after all, he's got 5 more saves, right? (rizzuto-style). Giants lead the Rays 2-0, bottom 2nd in San Fran. Yanks will end the night gaining on their 3 closest competitors in the East, and maybe the Jays as well. They're now 2 behind the 0's, 4 1/2 ahead of the Red Sox and 10 ahead of the Rays again. And that will do it for me for tonight. See you guys tomorrow evening for the rubber game in Tampa. Bye.

Is this some kind of twilight zone version of the Yankees Forum ??? Everyone Loves Grisham ... Where would we be without him??? well we wouldn't have won tonite without him. so yeah "love" him tonight.
with stanton out, he's gonna play so i root for him. as mentioned, since stanton went down he's hitting .286 w 2 HR 8 RBI .862 OPS. will take it. and his defense in CF is elite.

I was wondering at the time if Judge gets that gapper in the 8th. Judge is a good CFer but I'm not sure he would have got to it.

If you dont make that play, you are likely not a good centerfielder You're reaching ... this is how the Yankees get stuck with garbage players. Cause everyone gets all crazy when said garbage players do basically anything Let's just forget the fact that Grisham is batting .190 with a .640 ops ober the last 3 seasons because he had an .840 OPS over a 10 game stretch. Same thing with Oswaldo Cabrera ... 5 good game and 85 bad games doesnt make the Yankees a better team ... But we will never forget that hot start !!!
