I am afraid what we saw tonight will continue until someone other than Judge and Soto start producing. Judge got one pitch to hit all night and he hit a homer but they walked him 4 times. Why not. Pitch around the 2 of them and take your chances with an inept lineup. The answer does not appear to be internal. I don't think getting back Stanton and Rizzo at some point makes it much better. Having Jones as a DH says it all. Yeah I know he got a hit last night but he struck out 3 times and could not get a bunt down when he needed to. Stanton will help dunno about Rizzo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Rizzo will just at bats away from Rice.

In his presser Hyde said one of the Yankee Coaches was saying somthing that bothered him, he was frustrated and reacted. Sounds like I'm in the minority here but he's seen his players hit 10 times by Yankee pitchers. Three Yankees have been hit including Judge who missed a game because of that. But, if I'm on a team and another team has hit our guys ten times I want my manager to have a strong reaction. I think if the tables were turned we would expect the same from Boone, wouldn't we? In some of the rehashing of this history they showed two instances where Henderson was hit in what clearly was retaliation for Judge being hit. I didn't see a replay of Judge being hit, can't recall if it looked intentional or if he was the first player hit of the thirteen. I understand Holmes wasn't trying to hit him but as I've said, I've seen my guys hit 10 times. I don't have a problem with his reaction. If Dykes stirred things up after an O's player got hit in the head, then he's wrong and Boone should speak to him about it in private, to make sure he doesn't do anything that stupid again. If that is true, then what Hyde did is comepletely understandable. I think it's more likely that the Yankee bench so Hyde yelling at Holmes and defended their pitcher, like they should.

a win today (saturday) would guarantee our first series win in a month and at worst we'd go into the break one game out of the the division lead. very concerned about retaliation. think we've hit something like 10 O's and we've been hit only 3 times. and though it wasn't intentional, could understand them being pissed and looking for payback. of course most worried about judge & soto. judge got hit last time around and missed a game. going hiking w friends followed by a concert on the mtn but will nervously be checking in. Sounds like a fantastic time, Bumper! Enjoy!

We grew up with headhunters in MLB, but they are a dying breed and good riddance. I never wanted Roger Clemens on the Yankees for that reason, and Pedro Martinez pointing to his head vilified him in my eyes. Given the point in the game and the circumstances as well as the pitcher, Hyde certainly should know that hitting the batter in the ear hole of the helmet was not intentional. It is understandable to be emotional in the moment, but a manager attempting to charge the opposition’s dugout was ridiculous. Had Gunnar Henderson been hurt in the scrum, that would have been on Hyde being a meathead, as not a single Orioles player had departed the dugout until that over-the-top moment. Now, we face a chance of retaliation. What if the Yankees lose Judge for the year or even his career? All because Hyde didn’t like what someone said. Wanting to physically harm another human being for something said in emotional circumstances is not leadership but arrested development.

Hey Matt -- I've been sort of in and out on the forum for the past few weeks, so most importantly I'm glad your health issues are trending in the right direction. I can only imagine what an emotional roller coaster that has been. You being a man of refined taste, I am honored beyond words that a profoundly reflective libation like Woodford Reserve on the rocks would put you in mind of me. One of my favorites as well, and guaranteed to put any game in a proper perspective. I have never been one to play the smart-ass game of "stump the bartender," but I wondered if you were familiar with the old school Bronx Cocktail. As far as I know it hasn't been popular in over 80 years, but it made an appearance in the first "Thin Man" movie in 1934 when Nick Charles was demonstrating his preferred methods for shaking various drinks (a Martini is best done in 3/4 time, he says.) Basically it's a Perfect Martini with an ounce of orange juice added (no garnish.) I had never had one until I made my own at the start of the Yankees homestand against the Reds, hoping to change their luck. Obviously it didn't work, but I liked the drink itself. I used 2 oz of Tanqueray Gin and a half oz each of Dolin Sweet and Dry Vermouth plus the ounce of fresh-squeezed (a must) OJ. I had Mojitos yesterday for the game and that seemed to lead our boys to victory, so I'm going with that again today. Hoisting them to your continued recovery! I've never heard of a Bronx Cocktail, but it sounds like something right up my alley. I was actually perusing through my liquor cabinet yesterday for some gin, but realized I was out. I generally like Bombay Saffire, but also drink a local gin called Barr Hill. It's made with honey, so it has a very different taste. I'll give your Bronx Cocktail a taste. Thanks to you pipps for your infinite libations' knowledge. Don't drink a lot of gin anymore but when I did, Bombs Away Bombay Saffire was my choice. I was mostly a single malt scotch drinker but a good friend of mine visited, he's a Bourbon drinker and I've been experimenting. Like Angels Envy and some of the Heavens Door stuff. Mostly drink wine and beer these days. Love big bold California Cabs, Caymus and Heitz are two of my favorites but so many good ones to choose from. Mt beer tastes are really simple, like Mexican Lagers. Thanks for allowing me to hoard in on your libations talk.

Obviously all the Yankees problems weren't solved In a day, but it def made me feel better seeing the Orioles looking like a beatable team and vintage Gerit Cole finally showed up in 2024. I am afraid what we saw tonight will continue until someone other than Judge and Soto start producing. Judge got one pitch to hit all night and he hit a homer but they walked him 4 times. Why not. Having Jones as a DH says it all. Yeah I know he got a hit last night but he struck out 3 times and could not get a bunt down when he needed to. I've been critical of Cash as most of you know but I do think it was reasonable for him to expect more out of both Verdugo and Torres. Verdugo has a career BA of .276 and OPS of 755, this season he's .241 and 687. Torres career is .262 and 772, this year .224 and 637. Probably the same for DJL who's career numbers are .291 and 764, this season .193 and 504 although to me his numbers declining is not as surprising but wts, I didn't see such a big dropoff.

I have had Caymus Napa Cab and it's perfect with steak or roast beef. You have good taste; I see a three-year old Caymus Cab selling for $70 at my local Total Wine, so it's no charity case. Angel's Envy is a good bourbon. Again there are so many these days it can be overwhelming. I use Woodford Reserve as my everyday choice, but Buffalo Trace and well-aged Jefferson or Booker's (if only for the bottle) are others I like. Pappy Van Winkle if you feel like digging deep. I might be hitting you up for advice on Scotch over on the foodie thread. I've generally preferred other Whiskeys to Scotch over the years, but I need to up my game. We're going to Scotland in September and a few distilleries are part of our agenda. I need to get into practice. Thanks for chiming in.

If the Yankees win this game, remember this play. Yep, clutch fielding by Torres.

One of the best if not the best play I have seen him make. He also made play in, I believe, the Rays series in which he was playing in on the grass to snag a rocket line-drive to his right and double the runner off at 3B. As I've said...it's his defense that's always been criticized. Now...it's his offense that's struggling.
